A friend of mine's bulldog has aspiration pneumonia & yesterday the vet put him on Baytril, today the lower lid of his eye seems a little swollen. Can it be a reaction to the Baytril? She's trying to get him back into the vet today.
I've been told Baytril is a pretty strong drug, but I don't know what to make of this? Any thoughts?? He's eating but not drinking water.
Here's the eye that looks swollen:
and here's the "non swollen" eye:
Baytril
Stella was on it a few times for various reasons. Her only "reaction" was she seemed a bit sluggish - I suspected it upset her stomach more than the Clavamox.
My gut says that the eye is not related to the Baytril. If his breathing sounds OK, hsi gums are OK and he's not breaking out, I wouldn't tend to think reaction... My feeling is it's unrelated.
He may not be drinking because his tummy is a bit upset- it is a strong antibiotic. But it's a good sign that he's eating. Maybe she could try a little yogourt to see.
These are all just opinions, of course!
hmmmmm
I would think that if it was a reaction to the Baytril that both eyes would be affected....hmmmm
Hope your friends baby feels better real soon!
Thanks.....
he's going back to the vet tomorrow. He's eating & drinking with all good signs :)

Baytril
My understanding is it is one of the best antibiotics you can use and strong.
I agree with the others that I wouldn't think it would cause any swelling in an eye.
Thanks Deb..
He goes back to the vet today, I'll be interested to know what they say about the eye.
