Lately Fatboy has been getting up in the middle of the night (2 -3ish in the AM) because he has to go do his business. And it's not a bladder issue...it's #2 full force (sorry so graphic, but it is what it is). We feed him Honest Kitchen and have only changed from beef to chicken (which he's had before). If he could just sleep through the night he would be alright. But since he doesn't really "grasp" the concept of night time, he thinks it's time to start the day after he wakes up everytime. He's normally pretty good at waking me up to go, but if that gate isn't up he'll go out of the room and wait by the front door; when we don't get up he just goes. I've woken up to land mines near the front door so now I have had to keep him behind the gate in our bedroom so he HAS to wake us up to go.
Any ideas on what is going on here??

What times are you feeding him?
Maybe feed him earlier or later in the evening and see if that makes a difference? Or maybe walk him an hour after he eats, sometimes that will bring on a poop, always works for our guys.
We feed him his normal times and he does his business like
normal right after. It's the new additional time he's going that's throwing me off.

Walk
I'd take him out for a quick 15 minute walk before bedtime and see if that helps.
Sometimes mine will poop twice. Like this morning Kohl pooped, then 15 minutes later he pooped again. Since I feed raw they using only go 2x daily sometimes once a day.

Sophia did the same. She began...
Getting up at 2-3 am each night. She would go out and do both. She quit the behavior just as quickly as she had started it after about 2 months. Odd.
