Mabel is 10 and Duffy is 13 1/2. Mabel is Female alpha. She barks if she isn't on our bed. Duffy sleeps next door in Laundry Room as Mabel won't share (such as the lot for life for men, right?). Duffy is fine but Mabel has to be on our bed or she will perform what we call "Barking Extortion"....bark until we give in. Now we have a problem....
The problem is Mabel just won't sleep through the night...she gets up and off the bed about 3 - 5 times a night to just wander or whatever. We have bedroom set furniture and we don't want to take our mattress to the floor. We have gotten dog stairs and dog ramp and she is afraid of both.....
We can't get a good night's sleep....LOL.
We need to find a solution. Should we just get a crate and stick her in there and rough through a few nights of barking?
You're not going to like my advice
But, my older dogs get what they want. I always keep in mind that I may not have them much longer, so when they leave me, I don't want to feel guilty about making an issue out of temporary things that will seem so trivial.
By the way, my mattress and box springs have been on the floor for years now because of my dogs.
Good luck

You might try a dog bed by your bed.
She might get used to it and might end up prefering it. just a thought.
