hey guys i tried to search for this but couldnt really find a whole lot... im sure this is normal, but just wondering a few things. So my two puppies (boy and girl... almost 9 weeks) play great together, but then they also have this rough dominance type of "play" where they bite each other and try to pin each other... im guessing this is normal because I am pack leader and they want to figure out who is next in line? am i right about this? and if i am when will it stop? when will they figure out who the less dominate one will be and just play nice haha... im not sure if i should let it go completely... i only pull them apart when there is a REALLY loud yelp. other than that they play together like puppies. any ideas?

Normal Bulldog (Wrassling Pics)
puppy play. Let them play, they will bite each other, run and chase each other and you will think at times they are killing each other, but it is all normal. They will pull ears and lips and skin and that is all fine, until it's not. When it goes over the top you should stop it. If the sharp shark teeth actually draw blood or one is obviously being too aggressive then a time out is in order. Separate them with a voice command (Nah Bad) or something ... but not "No" they hear that too much and it ends up having no meaning to them and put them in separate crates. They need to learn how to be apart, so they don't get separation anxiety. Take them on separate walks, leaving one at home in the crate and separate car rides.
Mine all still play hard enough that you would think they are killing each other, sometimes there is alot of noise and they do what I call "mouth wresting".
Ester and Kohl drive me nuts some times (they are mother and son) and she starts it often. Once they start it is game on and you better stay out of the way, or you may end up getting knocked down. If they start running watch out. LOL! I call Kohl (who is a stout 65lbs) my bowling ball, when he gets a rolling you better move out of the way.
Safe guard you house! Any expensive stuff should be put up, because if the ram into something that could certainly break it. I always worry about my gas fireplace.

Congrats on your new puppies.

Haha, great pictures. I love the one of Kohl going belly up
That's MacKenzie - my old guy .. Here's a pic of Kohl
MacKenzie is 9 now, in his prime he was around 60 lbs, but he's a little guy.
Kohl is 65 lbs and a moose.
Here's MacKenzie in his younger years.
Too funny
I love that MacKenzie looks like he is balancing on the edge of the hot tub cover. Great action shots of the wrestling match going on.

They play rough.....*video*
Here's a video of my puppy Kix who I believe was 3-4 months old and my older boy Trace who is 3. Kix is now 11 months and still plays rough. I have to monitor their play time and break it up if they get too rough. It's usually Kix being rough with Trace, lol.

Totally normal- let them be bullies...
At least they are bullying other bullies...when dutch lays into my female Shihtzu- I worry sometimes that they are fighting for the alpha b*tch rank in the house....but when it gets nasty I break it up. I dont want to be in the middle of a blood bath, and with my shihtzu weighing like 5 lbs- and dutch is around 20, and she has incredible jaw strength, I too worry.
Maybe it would be nice for her to have another bullie to play with, but I am overloaded for the summer and not ready for a 2nd chewin bullie lol
Happily Married momma with 8 children total + a bully :) Couldnt get much better!!!
Life Truly is better when you share it with a Bullie :)
