I feel like such a bad mommy. Both our boys have deep tail pockets and we are usually pretty good about keeping them clean. BUT I didn't realize that Jax's tail pocket went all the way around his tail (he is very whiggly when I clean it). Well summer is here and we have been taking the boys to the beach, fastforward to Friday and Jax is whining (he is not a whiner) so I called the vet and in we go--the pocket on the side of his tail (the one I didn't know was there) is terribly infected :( The poor guy. And the cleaning routine is painful to him so it breaks my heart--its my fault it got infected and now I have to hurt him everyday to clean it out and put the medicine in there.

Life Truly is better when you share it with a Bullie :)
so CUTE!!!
I hate cleaning Gracie's tail pocket too - and her face. She has so many issues and Im constantly wiping her. She runs away from me every time she see a white towel in my hand! Poor Little things - breaks my heart!
Jax
When his pocket is not infected--he loves having it cleaned--this is why I feel so bad about this--I had no idea he had a pocket on this side--the other side is fine because we do clean and dry it. I just want to be able to clean it without him making the awful it hurts noise.
Poor little ding dong
These bullies have so many nooks and crannies that it's nearly impossible to monitor them all, all the time. I remember once with Stella, I couldn't figure out why her face was so stinky becaus I did so much maintenance there. Then I stuck my finger in the deep divot above her nose and it was totally full of goop. I didn't check there daily because it was so tight there wasn't usually anything in there. My bad.
But we fixed it and she was fine... and I'm sure he will be too.
Poor guy!
Don't beat yourself up about it...now you know and you can prevent it in the future. I'm sure you'll have him back to healthy in no time.

Tail Pocket Cleaning
We just went through the same thing with our Angus. Unfortunately, in all my research, I didn't know about that. Now, we are keeping on top of cleaning, but when I get to a certain point, Angus gets upsets (barks and tries to bite at me). Any advice on the best way to clean the pocket so he doesn't snip/snap? I want to keep on it so it doesn't get infected again. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks and hope Jax feels better soon. It took Angus about a week ...
tail cleaning
when bullies have that tight tail pocket and it gets sore, it helps to use "tucks pads" the breeder I got my bulldogs from had asked her vet and they said to use tucks pads its safe and is medicated and has an numbing agent so it isn't as painful when you have to swipe through the area.
