O/T...Any snake knowledgeable folks here? Cross posted...

I have a question. I have found a small Texas Garter Snake in my carport. Do I want to kill it or move it? I have small pets (cats and dogs) that I don't want bitten, and yes, they ARE venomous but not lethal to a human at all. But do I want any venomous snake near my pets? I don't think so, but if this is a beneficial....oy. What should I do with it?

I would move it

Take it for a nice ride somewhere. Be careful.

Good luck with cleaning the carport.

UPDATE. I caught it!

And put it in a bucket with a shirt over it. I glanced that way about half and hour later just in time to see it slither right out of that bucket and it is gone, gone, gone. Lovely, so I still have a snake in my yard, now I just don't know WHERE in my yard:-(

Figures!

That's the way I used to catch mice.

Except I used a cup instead of a bucket and I would carry it out to the yard. (I caught these mostly in the offices where I worked. Ididn't want them killing them if they didn't have to do so.)
