My granddaughter has been sitting an American Eskimo for the past three weeks at her- my granddaughter's- home. Apparently this dog is absolutely bizarre when is comes to water. She will gulp down a bowl and then throw it all back up. If given smaller amounts she goes to the toilet bowls. If outside she tries to get water from the condensation on the air conditioner. It would seem to me that there is something medically going on with her but I have no idea what. She jsut constantly seems to be craving water. The only thing I can think of might be diabetes. Am wondering if anyone here has any ideas what this could be. Thanks. I just feel so sorry for this poor animal and the distress it is in.
It definitely sounds odd.
But is it hot where she lives? Those dogs have hugely heavy coats, it could be very hot, and maybe the house isn't as air conditioned as the dogs own home is?
If that is not the case, then Diabetes would be my thought. My dad's dog has Diabetes and she used to gulp down the water in huge amounts. Now she is on insulin daily and is doing a lot better.
