O/T. Ok, which one of you wished for snow in Texas?

STOP IT!!! IT WORKED!!! Now, could someone please wish for sunny, warmer temperatures to return to my ranch? I am freezing, and now I get to go slough through mucky, slippery, icky icky, ucky ucky white stuff to feed my beloved herd of probably cold and starving horses (they think they haven't eaten in weeks, but the reality is 17 bags of feed a week).

Anyway, just wanted to see who did this dastardly thing!

Lynn King, it's not funny!

I agree stop it

we live in texas because we just don't like the snow. don't want to hurt anyone feeling. but stop it I'm frezzing too Amy and I hate it and all this rain we need can stop to. we are about to float away. the dogs don't want to go out and I just don't want to face the day with this stuff out side. it's not funny. this time of year every year i swear I'm moving to africa where there is sun and heat. i just hate winter and cold. only the bears have it right.

I totally agree with the bears

I hate the short daylight hours and I hate snow. Can't come up with one good reason to stay in NH in the winter.

Think Spring!!

OK, It was me......

I must have gotten my directions mixed up!  I asked for it to come to Yakima, not Texas.......not sure where the confusion came in, but I will do better with my requests next time

It is 19 degrees here this morning and crystal clear blue sky...we all want SNOW, as it is December and that is what we do this time of year!

On a serious note:  Those of you that really feel a downward spiral in the winter PLEASE look into taking Vitamin D.  It will make a great difference, I promise you.  You dont have to be diagnosed as having a 'low' level of D in your system to benefit from it, and if your level is not low and you take a normal daily supplement it is not harmful at all.  I get mine at a pharmacy that deal with normal Rx as well as supplements and some homeopathics.  What I get is called D3 which replaces what you get from sunlight.  I had skin cancer 5 years ago, so I don't hang out in the sun at all which can really depleat my system.  This is a life saver for me. You can start feeling the difference within 4 weeks.  ALSO there are special lights that you can turn on 30 minutes a day which make a great differnce as well.  There are also alot of studies that are pointing to Vitamin D deficiency leading to Alzheimer's.  AND Vitamin D supplements can help in weight loss!

Anyway,  I know winter can be really hard on so many people, take care of yourselves--your bullies need you!

My father was diagnosed

Winter's hell on me... Vit D eh? hummm

I've tried the Lightbox, but I couldnt sit in front of that thing for a hour x 3 times a day -

I've seen mental health specialists for years due to seasonal mood issues -

I'll have to look into Vit D  (the wife takes it for her bones w/ calcium)

Please do

Please try it, it cannot hurt!  It's literally a life saver in my family.  My father was near suicidal after he retired, once we were able to get his Vitamin D up he was ALWAYS the life loving man he was in the summertime.

The last light we bought was just a small table top lamp and 30 minutes a day, like when you are reading (or online) does wonders.  I often find that those 30 minutes turn into little cat naps, but that is great too.

Try Seattle ..... grey, grey, grey

Although we have been blessed with sun for the past 2 days.  I should really try Vit D.  I have seasonal depression as well, and I feel it already starting.  Have never tried the lights, maybe time to look into that as well.

Yakima is COLD this time of year.  I'm from Walla Walla and while it is referred to as the Banana Belt it did get mighty cold some winters.  I remember frozen shavings and ice buckets in my horse stalls even with heat lamps going. Hauling water for 5 head for a month really sucked, I finally put in a deep water line and kept it wrapped and heated.

it was 19 this morning,

8pm now and it is in the 20's already.  All we need is a little of your clouds and we got the white stuff!

I would suggest D3 over lights if you were only going to do one of them.  And I am not a pill popper, but it really makes a difference
