O/T -> I am so honored to see the Rainbow for my Friday....

My little Friday (Cocker Spaniel) went to the Bridge last Thursday night.  She started to get sick in the summer with a hospitalization for pancreatitis along with a horrible GI tract infection.  She came home with the worst news ever:  kidney failure.  I spent the rest of the summer administering sub-Q fluids and giving her kidney meds and I actually got her kidney values back to normal!  I was so relieved that my girl was not going to leave me.  The just a few short weeks later (like 2) she started not feeling good and the GI infection was back.  I was synringe feeding her every hour bland foods and going Back and forth between two different vets every other day....even last Tuesday on my lunch hour rushed her to the vet for IV pepcid, flagyl and fluids.  She seemed to come around on Wednesay and then Wednesday night the infection was back.  By end of work day on Thursday she could no longer stand and I knew it was time.  I left the house knowing I was not coming back with her because I love her too much to let her suffer.  She passed peacefully and the one sign that I had from her that I was doing the right thing.....she licked her lips.  She had not done that in 10 days....her #1 sign that she liked what whatever was going on.

It is the first time in 17 years I have not had a Cocker Spaniel in my life.  I miss her so much....everytime I start to cry I get chest pains because it hurts so bad.  She took up such a large part of my life and well as alot of time with all her needs.

RIP Sweet Friday....I will always love you......

Thank you BDW for honoring my girl with the rainbow.....I am very deeply touched.....

Rainbow Bridge - in Friday's Honor

I found this poem at a local rescues' site, and I posted it the last few weeks, in Karma, Lily,  Walter, and Kilmore's honor,

I really dont like posting it, because it means we have lost another friend, but I feel the need to for the families.

Friday, you are in our thoughts.

The Rainbow Bridge Poem.

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

..

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

..

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

..

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

..

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

..

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

My sympathy to you ...

Losing our beloved pets is just the most terrible time. I wish you nothing but big hugs and all my sympathy on your loss.

(((Annie)))

I know all too well how much emotional energy a tummy sick girl takes.  They dominate our lives - but we wouldn't have it any other way.  You kept her happy as long as you could and let her go when you had to.  Hugs to you, my wonderful friend.
