Ok, it is well knows that our bulldogs are quirky, odd, strange, a being like no other. BUT does anyone else have experience with this?
Kippah growls before she can fall asleep! She gets in her kennel, or lays down on my bed with me, and flips from her side to her back and growls off and on for about 5 minutes before she crashes. AND this is often how she wakes up too! The only other time she growls is when she is playing tug with the Boston's. I have never heard her growl in an aggressive manner. This is the strangest thing I have ever seen in bedtime rituals!
the verdict? Odd or normal?

I'd say Bulldog Quirk
They are odd creatures at times. Poor Gizmo barks and goes ballistic at ANYTHING new in the house. We wont talk about me cooking dinner with the oven, almost like she is growling and barking at the 'heat' of the oven *shrug* who knows

oh wow!
Winston acts all SAD and SULKY (we call it S&S) whenever we have the oven on. It's like he's depressed and nothing (no squeaky tennis ball or cookie) can make him perk up until it's off and cool.
God, I thought he was solo in that weirdness...glad he's not! :)

My swimming bully buddy!
I 2nd the new thing in the house. Fatboy doesn't like things
out of place either; it drives him nuts! Last night for instance...my husband grabbed the mini garbage can and put it at the end of the couch so he could clip his nails. Once Fatboy saw the can there, his hair stood up and he would not stop barking. Weird bunch these bullys are :P
Fatboy aka Stinky :)
LOL
It sounds cute! Jack doesn't growl to sleep but he really enjoys sleeping upside down. He resembles a turkey ready for cooking. I just think bulldogs are an odd bunch.
Nakina
She also barks at the AC vent in the car!
I just thought about that, although not growling she barks at the vent. We call it 'her friend circle-lee" because it is a circle vent. When it was hot she loved having the fan blowing on her, now that it has cooled down we dont have the AC on and she freaks out and barks at her friend until it starts blowing again. Then she kisses it. I had the heat on last weekend and she LOST IT. First she was kissing it, then when she realized it was warm air she barked --while looking at me--until I changed it to cool air.
A little demanding huh? Apparenlty it works fine cuz mommy changed the temp in the car to cool, so her and her friend circle-lee can hang together!
I just hate to think about what she will do when the snow starts. They are talking about snow in the passes this week already! That is only one hour from us, I might take her up there and start conditioning her now. I dont want an all out revolt when the snow actually gets down here!

haha, she sounds like a typical funny and quirky bully to me! :)

Beatrix doesn't growl. But
Beatrix doesn't growl. But she does do this weird snort-sigh as she settles in. We know she's ready to go to sleep when she takes in a HUGE snorting lungful of air -- and then sighs it all back out again.
hahaha Rocc does the same thing
he wil just let higs legs go limp and just pplop onto the floor and let out a giant sigh and its lights out lol

so funny!!!
I love hearing stories about how silly/weird the bullies we love are! Vern luvs the a/c but doesn't make noises...his weird noise is when we are someplace new or exciting. He does this high-pitch squeaky noise. I can imitate it - sounds what I describe as a rabid gremlin noise. It's so embarassing!!! He'll only do it for a minute or so - but it's a minute too long. Last night when we arrived at obedience class (first night for the new session) he was doing it & I was afraid everyone thought he was a kook! But, I guess it's just a bulldog thing....
Does everyone's bully also lay their head on your neck or head
or try to lay half on you?? Man he's heavy! I have to push him off!
Laying is ok, its that dang PAW in the groin !
When she decides she wants to get comfy, and all 52lbs is in that little 2x2 square inch thing called HER PAW ! and yup! you know where she just has to put that Paw !
Signed - *just call me Squeaky* :P

same thing here
Rocco will put both his front paws on my gut and just take the wind out of me lol...he also lays on me on the couch, his weight isnt a big deal but he is like a furnace so after about 10 minutes his body heat has me burning up and i have to move him...good thing winter is coming

Other than the obligatory
Other than the obligatory snoring... Sometimes Hazel whimpers in her sleep. Her sleeping position changes on her location, she's not a snuggler but I blame her past for that-maybe when (if) it ever cools off here she'll want the warmth.
Maggie lets out a deep sigh and immediately starts snoring
Sadie doesn't make a sound. If I lay on my back, they each lay against one of my sides and put their heads on my shoulder.
Speaking of sleeping habits - Maggie was worn out last week and fell asleep in the funniest position.
