My husband and I are looking to move into a new house (renting). The landlord is requesting the normal; pet deposit, pet contract, etc. But she is also requesting a picture of Fatboy. This is weird right? I don't feel comfortable giving out our picture of Fatboy.
Fatboy aka Stinky :)
I have not heard of doing that....
But think maybe she is making sure Fatboy is an English Bully, not a Pitt or other breed bull? I don't know, but I would ask her!

I am sure
he is making sure he is an English Bulldog.... I once brought my dog to the groomer and I told them he was a bulldog and they wanted to know what kind of bulldog - they told me that so many people will say bulldog when they have pittbulls, just to make them sound a little nicer on the phone - then when they drop them off - Guess what - No English Bulldog....
It does sound a little creepy that he wants a pic of Fatboy, but I am sure that is why!!!!
Rental
As you are renting you are pretty much at the whim of the owner of the home. If he/she has restrictions on the type of dog, size, number ,etc. he may not trust the people he is renting to to abide by his requirements. Requesting proof in the form of a picture gives him something to go by if he sees a dog on his property that doesn't match what he has been told. I haven't heard of this before but if I was renting out a house I might consider it. If you aren't comfortable with his requests then don't rent the house.

I'm a real estate agent so maybe I can answer
Some landlord's insurance company won't cover injury by certain 'pitbill' breeds or other so-called fighting dog breeds. English bulldogs don't usually fan into this catagory. I would advise that in every reference when necessary that you describe your dog as an English Bulldog rather than a 'bulldog' so there will be no confusion.
Thank you for the insight. Fatboy was listed as an English
Bulldog. It did cross my mind how some people confuse English Bulldogs with Pitbulls (I don't know how the two can be confused), and I thought this might be the case. Others have told me a picture is required for insurance purposes. I've never had to deal with this before, so it caught me off guard. Thank you!
Fatboy aka Stinky :)
unusual..
I agree with you entirely. I don't even think they're supposed to do that. Whatever your dog looks like is totally confidential to you. Unusual...
Thanks,
