Jack did great at the vets. We went to Dr. Kier that was on the list here. He is awesome btw. Everything looked great...Jack did well except for the temp check. That really got his attention. But he is looking good so I'm happy with that. He is 10 lbs 15oz at 7 wks old. Jack is going to be a big boy.
Last night went a little bit smoother than the previous night. I really think within a week, Jack won't be crying at night because he is lonely. He currently goes to bed at 11 pm and wakes at 1 am, 2:30 am, 5 am and 6:30 am. I take him outside for a potty break, then immediately put him in the crate with a reward. I lay outside the crate until he falls asleep. This is where I see a big improvement. The first night he went crazy trying to get out of the crate, last night he whined for a few minutes and went to sleep. At the 2:30 and 5 am times, he didn't even whine. My husband came out to get the puppy and I told him to just leave him. Jack was doing fine which might have disappointed my husband a little who liked the thought of the puppy sleeping with him. So Jack is settling in quite nicely.

One thing - you should give the treat outside "right" after he
goes potty, and praise him alot!
He is a doll!
Sounds like you are on the right track with him...the beginning is tough but so worth it!

awesome, good job jack! the difference between night 2 and the subsequent nights were amazing for us too. seems like hes learning and adjusting quickly. even though it was tough waking up every couple of hours to let our puppy out, i remember loving how warm and cuddly we was when i would carry him down the stairs to go outside (it was early spring)
what a sweet baby!
I don't blame your hubby for wanting to snuggle with that sweet pup! :)

Sweet Face
What a sweet little face. Winnie was in our bed right away too. Yes it was also my husband that brought her into bed. She I think spent a total of three nights in the kennel. However she was in the kennel when we were at work. Kilmore is our first bulldog and had more kennel time, but he was able to help the potty training with Winnie when we got her. Enjoy the new baby!

Dr. Kier in Virginia Beach?
I love your puppy's smoosh face. I noticed you took him to Dr. Kier. I am not sure where you are from, but that is my vet also. I live in Chesapeake, but make the 40 minute drive for him to check Winston. If it is the same vet, he is WONDERFUL!
Meredith & Winston
Its the same!
Thanks! We live in Va Beach so Dr. Kier is only about 20 min from us...would be a shorter trip but the traffic can be ridiculous as you know! What's up with the sheep? LOL
Nakina
The sheep...
Before Dr. Kier became the head vet there, it was owned by a Dr. Kollar. He kept sheep and a bull, among other farm animals. He retired, the bull passed away, but the sheep remain.
Don't you love how Dr. Kier is so hands on with your puppy? He always has time to answer my questions, gets on the floor with Winston where Winston is more comfortable. My mom just moved up here a couple of years ago, and since then we take her dog there too. (In fact we are going this week. Shhhhh, don't tell Winston or Ben. They don't know yet.)
Winston is going to celebrate his tenth birthday on Friday. Here is a picture from last year:

I do love him!
I had a rambunctious 2 yr old with me and Dr. Kier just took it all in stride. But he was awesome and spent alot of time with us. I'm positive he'll be our lifelong vet. His prices aren't bad either. Our last vet was in Suffolk where they almost killed our cat because they gave him too much anesthesia and sent him home almost lifeless.

His prices are okay. It can
His prices are okay. It can be sticker shock when you have to pay for antibiotics and what not for your bulldog, but they are so worth it. He also doesn't do anything unless you as the owner fully agrees with the decision. He has saved my husband and I quite a bit of money by not jumping to conclusions when Winston has something going on. I never leave there without a question answered. That is the BEST thing about him.
