Thanks to this forum, I knew exactly what to do and grabbed the Karo syrup. They stopped as soon as he licked it off the spoon. I can imagine what it would be like for an owner to experience this not knowing what it was and how to stop it. Thank you BDW!
Here's a picture of my big dofus...
Nice work Kathy!
Glad to hear your doofus is OK. Quick thinking. I don't know if I would have pulled up that response so quickly. It pays to be prepared!
Very handsome!
May I ask why he had head shakes and why the Karo?

There is a section on the home page about...
head shakes. It also has a video at the end which shows exactly how they look. Their heads just start shaking back and forth and some believe that it's caused by low blood sugar, so the spoonful of Karo or something else that is high in sugar will most of the time stop the shakes. It can be very scary if you don't know what it is, but it's fairly common and doesn't hurt the dog at all, although the owner can suffer heart failure.
Glad he's OK...
Zimmer had them since he was one :(
he had one this morning too. I just give him a string bean & he's fine.
