Dremiling puppys Nails - get them used to it now - -

I wish we would of done this with Gizmo, what a challenge it is to get her nails done -

Today I put Hershey on a smooth surface while I 'Played' around with my Dremil, turned it on, turned it off, Hershey was inquisitive (Gizmo BOLTED!)

It took a little playing around, lots of praise and treats but I got those pointy puppy claws 'dulled'

This will be atleast a weekly ritual -

Make sure you play with your puppy's paws so they get used to them being handled.!

Cleaning their face wrinkles

We started cleaning the folds on his face the very first day we brought Otis home. Our vet recommended the Kandoo baby wipes. We give hime treats every time and make it a very positive experience for him. So far, so good! This is our first bulldog but I've heard that their faces can get smelly and gross.

With Bully pups it's best to that the "Ow, quit it!" approach.....they snag ya and you say Ow, quit it!

Best advice I remember getting

Get your bully used to being touched everywhere.  Put your fingers in their ears, play with their tail, wrinkles, toes, "nether parts", stick your fingers in their mouth, etc., etc...  Everywhere!  With the amount of maintenance they require over the years, you'll be poking and prodding them constantly so may as well get them used to it now.

When Stella and I would be snuggling, I'd run my hands over her eyes gently, play with her ears, stick my fingers betwen her toes, lift her tail up and down, play with her jowls ...  And she was remarkably blazé about being touched anywhere; vets were always amazed at how calm she was.

Clothes dress them up.

Get them use to wearing clothes. Hats shoes. Everything. When I got Loulou at 14 months she never had worn anything. Lol now she wears something everyday. Just like a human child.  I do believe now she know what in store for her when those boxes come in the mail.  My Bubba well he was my son dog, my son always said. Mom  Bubba a Man he doesnt wear clothes. I love how he said  "He a Man". But Bubba hates it when you even look at with the look your thing about putting any thing on him.  As for nails yes i would say do that first. Loulou you even look st her with anything in your hands and she will take that hand off. No one doing to cut her nails.

Crate Training in

another room besides your bedroom.  No sleeping in the bed, until they have mastered separate room crate sleeping without a fuss.  They need to learn independence and to not be stuck to ones hip.  Mine can sleep with me or in a crate in another room without a fuss.  A dog with separation anxiety is a real pain in the butt.

Also take them on plenty of car rides so they become a good traveler.  Nothing worse then a car sick doggie that does nothing but pant for hours on trips.  Stressful for them, stressful for you.

Puppy classes are great to start their training and socialization.

To add to the other good suggestions.

Lots and lots of love

I would also say make sure you take plenty of puppy pictures, because they change so fast.  Make sure if you get frustrated with them you watch them while they sleep, because that frustration will disappear. :)  Also you will need a bigger bed, so Gizmo and Hershey will plenty of room.

Get them used to be poked, petted, and patted down. Seriously

it's helpful when it comes to visiting the vet.  Also get them used to having their mouth checked out.  Makes it easier to brush those toofies when they need to be :)
