sunday apr.15 was my easter sunday...i'm greek orthodox..
i had to go the pharmacy to get some cough medicine for my mom...
so walking there w/my nephew we encountered a homeless man w/his dog...poor thing was sleeping
and it was a beautiful sunny day-had reached like 26 c...it seemed my nephew and i kept looking
back...til we reached the pharmacy...making our way up and down the ailes we found ourselves at the
very limited petfood section...my nephew is 8yrs...heart of gold and very innocent...i tear just thinking
about him and my heart swells w/pride-although i was married for 6 yrs we weren't blessed w/children,
so naturally my niece and nephew are like my own...so he looked up to me just as we stopped in front of the
pet food and he says...if we don't give the homeless man money, after we buy the cough syrup for
giagia(grandma in greek),can we get food for the dog?made me so proud of him watching him give the
homeless man the dog food and managed some change as well for the man's cup that he was holding out
to passerbys....THAT was a beautiful day well spent and i wanted to share that w/you all in here :))))))

I love to hear stories of kids having such wonderful hearts. You have a great newphew and should be very proud. Can't help but love a fellow animal lover. :)

Karonelaine
wow, that is SO sweet for an 8-year-old to be so
concerned about others! How proud an Auntie you must be!!!
**sidenote on homelesss people and their pets.....I always carry bottled water, granola bars, and sometimes apples to give to the homeless that I see at stop lights. Last summer was sooo brutally hot, I gave away bottles of cold Gatorade. Well, one day, I saw a very grateful lady give some of the snack I gave her to her dog, and it broke my heart!!! So, now I carry Ziplock bags full of kibble......just breaks your heart to see people and animals so hungry/thirsty!!! :-(

Very sweet
We hear so many bad things coming from the news and it makes us wonder what the next generation is going to be like. Then we hear stories like this and it makes me hopeful again. What a sweet guy you have!
