Here's a few pics of our new foster, Piggie. Thanks for letting me share - I'm a newbie foster momma and am very thankful to have the opportunity to help.
I fell in love with Vern before he even came home - picked him out at two weeks and the bulldog fever hit hard. I've had different breeds through my life - from Westies to Labs to Spinones and I think I finally found my breed. Through this and other bulldog sites I became educated about puppy mills and the suffering some of our beloved bullies endure because of bad breeders and in part from their popularity....this propelled me to want to help in some way. That's why I'm a foster momma - I'm enjoying my first foster and look forward to helping more in the future as they make their way to their forever homes.
Piggie (the previous owner called her PIG, but I like Piggie better) came into rescue after the man who owned her decided he didn't want her. That man had only owned her for two months. He came to own her after her previous owner gave her to him as a way to "pay off his debt" - he owed the man some money.
She's a good girl - not even two years old. My Vern thinks she is awesome!!! It was a trick doing the initial introduction - I had planned to do it by having both on leash, but I had to amend that idea since she is not leash trained. When I slipped a leash on her she turned into a wildabeast! Instead, I kenneled her in our living room for about an hour and a half and just let them sniff each other and calm down a bit before I let her out. She did accept a harness, so I had her harnessed and tethered.
After less than 48 hours they are both very calm around each other - even sitting in the same dog bed together! The only thing is Vern will not stop sniffing her...it's kinda ridiculous.
This was after her bath last night :)
Happy Bulldogs :)

Good for you for doing
Good for you for doing fostering! I think about it sometimes, but know that my life just wouldn't work for it right now. I'm so glad to see Vern accepting Piggie into his home, and the two of them getting along so well!
