Meaty's had a RUFFF couple o' days...poor wittle guy! *piks*
Submitted by ArchimedesMommy on October 14, 2011 - 11:39amYesterday his face was swelling.....jowls were VERY red, left eye was half-shut....SCARY! Gave him 2 Benadryls then called the vet. We assume he was bitten by some stupid insect----On the way to the vet, the swelling was increasing and obviously I was VERY nervous about his airway....I think he was starting to breathe just a litttttttttle bit too heavily, too, but hubby disagrees. Regardless, he got a Dexamethasone injection. The vet said he would've added Benadryl to the injection also, had we not given him some already. We of course watched him CLOSELY the rest of the day and evening, and he's been fine!!!
OMG, this CRACKS ME UP!!! I guess he needed some reassurance from Daddy, so he just hopped right up and laid RIGHT on top of him!!! I can't believe Daddy is able to sleep under all that Meaty weight!!! LOL!! Sweet Meaty wooks so SAD, doesn't he? :-(
Also, in the middle of the night, he had some loose stools ....not actual diarrhea, but heading that way......Poor baby.....2 Pepto Bismol tablets and later, I'll make him something bland like the diets I've read about at this wonder-BULL site....(such as, rice and boiled chicken).....For now, he and Sophie are sleeping like wittle logs! :-)

I'm so glad to hear that there wasn't anything serious going on with him! I would have been flipping out! Give he and Sophie a smooch from me and Winston when they wake up! :)

He does look so sad. Ozzy's face swelled up once when we first moved into the new house. We never did find out what caused it and it hasn't happened since. Hopefully Meaty is having a better day today.

insects! We're getting overrun with spiders lately and it's a pain! Fatboy likes to eat them but we try to catch him before that happens. We have no idea what kind of spiders are running rampant in this area.

Unless looks are decieving and your husband is the size of a 7 yr old (please take no offence if that is the case) You Meaty is one HUGE baby! How much does he weigh?

LOL....no offense taken! Meaty *IS* bigger than he should be
and we're working on getting some weight off....!!! And, my camera angle DOES make him look bigger and my hubby look tiny, doesn't it? LOL!
We take some of the blame for his weight (87 lbs)we've been too generous w/ food and treats, BUT also, he has been on Prednisone for a while (for chronic ear issues, and the Pred.
has really helped the EARS, but not the weight!), plus the BRUTAL heat of summer and he's not much of an indoor exerciser..... Obviously we do NOT want him to get diabetes or heart issues, and our vet is more concerned about his knees. Thank GOODNESS it is cooler in the evenings now and we can FINALLY take him and Sophie on walks! Meaty LOVES his walks and we HATED keeping him inside all summer....arrggghhh!!! :-(

I see Sophie in the big bed now. don't worry about meaty weight. now fall is here maybe he can start to walk it off. I think this summer all the bullie put on so few extra pounds
