We are on Day 12 right now, and this is getting rediculous. Now keep in mind I have dealt with 3 Persian cats in heat all at the same time. I have dealt with our Bostons being in heat....at one time we had two girls both in heat. And we raised dairy/show goats, with the male goat on the premisis. HOLY BULLY Kippah is so much more dramatic!
She doesnt want to eat her normal kibble, so she is getting canned food. She's eating that, so I am not too worried.
We took Rick's advice and got pull up diapers for the times she is out and about through the house (other times she is in her kennel or closed into a small area in the utility room) We started with 3t-4t......too short. We went to 4t-5t a little better, the painters tape around the waist helps keep them up over the hips. But then she figured out how to get them off, two little rubs against the couch and they are on the floor. Then we went to a 4-8 yr old overnight pullup, with painters tape. Finally that works. She will go several hours with hardly anything (barely spotting) and I think it may be stopping and then it changes drastically (usually with activity) and is pretty heavy.
She lays around and sulks, or she beats up on Gabe. She is ticked off that we dont let her out of our sight, and just plain mad at the world.
I just want my sweet baby back. We have a consultaion with the vet next month. We will end up getting her fixed, but I need to be very confident in his plans for her, and what he will be using for anesthesia.

Definately a pain to deal with--especially if you have no plans in breeding. Can last up to 21 days. I found dog panties worked best--cloth with the hole for tail (not really needed with Bullies) and velco closures. I would put a large thick overnight pad for the mess. If I woried the velco wouldn't hold I would use a diaper pin. My problem was that hubbie would put them out to potty and forget to take off the panties. Or he would crate them with panties on and they would rip up the pad. I know pull-ups would not work for mine--they would have torn them up in no time and then I would have had cotton bits and that absorbent gel everywhere. She'll be out of heat soon. Just get her spayed before the next is due. (PS--off topic--I used to raise and show dairy goats, too. Nubians. Milked about 12 each day. Loved it.)

we first bought the doggie panties with the hole....it seemed like she needed a tail to put through the hole to keep them up LOL. It was great for the first weekend, as we went out of town with her on the day she started spotting. But after a couple days it was too much for the panty and small liner, I know I got a size too big for her though, they were very droopy!
We had Nubians as well, LOVED it, It was great for my kids, taught them so much responsibility, especially my son. When he ws 10 he was hauling alfalfa, and milking goats at 5am before school. My daughter was 5 years younger, so she didnt have that much hands on, but when she was 7 we did get pigmies for her to show.
The best part was watching births, and feeding babies!

What people have told you about 'light' heats may be true for most dogs but not for your or for mine.No one is lying, just relaying their experiences and what's most likely.
Yes, she's moody and grumpy and her eating habits are off. If she could talk, I'd be she'd tell you she wants to do nothing but sit, watch TV and eat chocolate cookies with a hot water bottle on her tummy.
Unless you are breeding your dog at some point in time, getting her spayed is probably the best choice. Wait until she's completely done with the heat before you do this.
It's always hard to see your bulldog unhappy. It's much easier after the spay for both of you.
Your logic is..logical, BUT
I choose to play the victim and be mad at those 'LIARS" LOL
She did crawl into the load of warm towels out of the dryer this morning. she was panting but seemed so comfortable, I just wonder if she would like a little bit of a warm towel to lay on in the evening, I may try that for 10-15 minutes and see if she seems happy. I have the AC blaring in the house right now so there wont be a chance of her getting over heated!
