Kirkland Lamb & Rice with Vegetables

I just changed my 16 month old Bully over to Kirkland Lamb & Rice with Vegetables from TOTW - Sierra Mountain. I needed to make change for financial reasons.... $30.99 for 40 lbs (Kirkland) compared to $70 for a 30 lbs (TOTW). Does anyone else here use the Kirkland food? or have any feedback for me?

He has no grain allergies, I only put him on TOTW in an attempt to get ride of the tear stains, but it didn't work. The breeder where we got Dimaggio feeds all his Bullys Kirkland, and thats what made me switch to the Kirkland.

Thanks!

I have fed Kirkland for years

I have used the puppy formula, chicken and lamb. My dogs have done well on all. Firm, small poops and nice weight management. I have never seemed to have had a food allergy with any fo my dogs (lucky me). I used to feed Eukanuba but after reading some reviews the high price did not seem to be worth the $$. I buy the Kirkland from Costco. Every dog is an individual but all of mine have done well on this food.

We use Costco food also...

our stores have grain free salmon, that's what we use.  It has really helped Newman's tear stains along with a Britta water filter.

And wow, that's a lot for TOTW...

We buy it here for $39.99 for 30 pounds.

We are in Phoenix...

We are planning a vacation in BC this coming August - a week in Victoria BC, I've heard great things about it!

Victoria is nice!

Enjoy your stay!

There's your answer right there!

EVERYTHING is twice the price here in Canada.  I'm in Montreal and used to pay between $75 - $90 a bag for food for my girl.  I have to cook for her now - and that's even pricier :)

We use Nature's domain from costco, grain free salmon and potato

We did use the Blue buffalo wildnerness, grain free salmon, but it was $85 for a 24 lb bag, and Brutus still had tear stains. We found the nature's domain at costco, it is a 32lb bag for $40, and no more tear stains. Not every costco carries it, which sucks. My local one doesn't so I go to the next one over, which is about 30 minutes drive, but the bag last's my 3 dogs 4-5 weeks.

Oh, I'm in Ontario, so the price might be the same in B.C,

If you wanted to go grain free, the nature's domain is really good.

Question...

As we are new to this bulldog parent thing, Rugby is currently on Eukanuba PURE Puppy chow. It is very difficult to find (we have found two websites that carry it, no brick and mortar stores) so we are going to switch at some point.

I heard that salmon based is the best, but his food now is chicken based. Also, I had no idea that food could cause tear stains... Any recommendations of which brand we should move to and when would be the best time?

I think it's purely "luck"

I think it's purely "luck" when it comes to your bully and their food causing tear stains or not causing them. I went grain free and filtered water and nothing changed he still got tear stains. So now I am going to back to a grain food to save some $$$. I also tried a Salmon/Fish based food with poor results, his poop was constantly runny and I did transistion him slowly.
