To say I am surprised would be putting it mildly! She has been so high strung the last couple weeks we have had a very hard time keeping her on track during this class, but last night was her 'finals test' and she performed everything! Shocked me. Here are the things she had to do:
Loose leash walking, followed by 'heal' commands to bring her right to the side of my leg and continue walking, sitting when I stop, sit for petting, and mixing all these things up during a 5 minute walk.
'Stop and Wait' until released, going in and out of doors. --I command her to sit, I draw a line with my hand that she cannot cross, then I go through the door, turn around and give her the release word and and command to come to me. We had to do this multiple time, she HATES this but she did it for the test!
Come when called from a distance, with distractions (food, people, dogs) The food one is hard for her, but she did it, she slowed way down as she went past the food though LOL
Sit with distractions on the leash, for example walking around her and she still sits where I put her, turning my back on her, etc
Go to her bed and stay upon command.......not her kennel, but her daytime 'timeout' bed. She wont do this at home, but she did it in class, we got as far as a 12 foot distance to get her to follow through with the command, further than that she would go half way and then lay down on the floor LOL, but she only had to do an 8 foot distance for the class.
And of course no jumping up, no over anxious snatching of treats, no aggressive behaviour towards people, dogs, etc.
SO, she did everything! I am surprised, I planned on taking the class over.
I was so impressed I figured I could get the Christmas pictures done last night since she was so cooperative! NOT! little poop!
She has 4 weeks before we take the CGC class, but we are going to be a guest at the next Intermediate class during while we wait, since I was so surprised that she passed LOL

haha, don't worry about being long!
I'm planning to get Winston and I signed up for intermediate classes after the first of the year. This year we did beginner and I think by the end of the class he was bored b/c he picked up everything so quickly...so based on the "test" for intermediate I think he will enjoy the class a bit more and it'll be a bit more work for me (and the dude). :)
Congrats to both of you!!!
Shannon and Winston :)
My swimming bully buddy!
Kippah Congratulations!
We are so happy for you and you mom :)
Congratulations!
Well done Kippah and Mommy!
Every dog should go thru a few classes and learn the basics, makes for a better dog/human relationship and gives the dog tools to use to make living in our modern world easier.
Way to go Kippah...you made your mommy proud.
:)
Way to go
Congrats
Lyn
yay!
did she learn how to grab a beer from the fridge? =P
Fatboy aka Stinky :)
I instructed her to do so....
BUT, she just goes into the kitchen, makes some noises, and comes back with nothing..........well nothing except a wet chin and a couple burbs.....just don't know what she does in there!
