Funniest thing! I was trying to get dinner in before her class last night, while also paying some bills online...so I was not watching my plate all that closely. Sneaky little Kippah got to my plate and snatched the first thing she could get ahold of. I am sure she wanted a piece a pork tenderloin....but what she got instead was a mouth full of Quinoa and Kale cooked in coconut milk and curry.......the kale was in pretty big pieces and she could not get it spit out..........she threw a royal fit trying to get it out of her mouth! After laughing so hard I nearly fell off my chair, I reached in and got the big piece of Kale out of her mouth, and out comes a good amount of Quinoa and saliva all over my lap. I then showed her my plate that still had meat on it, not one glance, she backed away from it like it was poison! I do believe that this could be her first and her last attempt to steal from my plate....time will tell
And from now on I can eat kale down on the floor and not be bothered! good to know!

Who does?!
Just kidding! Actually, I don't mind it. Any my DH loves it!! Would you mind sharing your recipe? I do love quinoa, coconut and curry... so I could probably learn to love the kale too.
Poor Kippah. That scene must have been hilarious!!!
recipe...what's that? LOL
We dont operate with recipes, but here is what we threw together and it was YUMMY
Quinoa and Kale Stuff:
Sauted one large onion, and then added two cloves of smooshed garlic
Once translucent we added one can of Rotel (could use diced toms) and one whole bunch of kale --stock removed and chop up the leaves. 2 tsp salt, 1tsp of cumin, 1 can of coconut milk (could use chicken stock if you wanted to) I let that simmer for about 20 minutes before adding 1 1/2 cups of uncooked quinoa, and some water...I just filled the coconut milk can with water to rince it out. I also disolved 2 tsp of curry paste in with that warm water before pouring it in, but you could easily use curry powder. This would also be great with chicken or shrimp added to it.
If you like kale do a goggle search for 'Recipezaar Kale Slaw' It is an old recipe that is now posted on Food.com (they took over Recipezaar) This recipe is Fantastic! it has a ton of spices in it, and what we do is multiply the spices by 4 or 6, and make a huge batch of the spice blend, we have it for other bathches of slaw, and we also use it on roasted veggies or as meat rubs......WOW, now I just talked myself into some roasted cauliflower tonight with this spice blend, (it has curry, cumin, garlic, cinnamon....all kinds of yumminess!)

Breaking 'Counter' and 'Table' surfing puppies
Gizmo has tried this in the past, and there are 2 things she absolutely hates (Runs like hell from that is)
1) Noise
2) anything Stainless Steel
So up on the counter - I keep 2 metal bowls a medium sized one, and a small one - she tries to counter surf, and i *knock off* the bowls to the floor - CLANG ! ! ! !
She bolts, she can't get traction on the kitchen floor, and is spinning her wheels -
Christmas, to keep her away from the tree - a simple metal bowl - right in front of the tree - No Problems :)
I dont know how she'd do with Kale :P
I got this idea from when our grandson lived with us, at about 18-24 months he kept reaching up on the counters - well, we know this can be dangerous - so a bowl with about 2 inches of room temperature tap water in it - he reached up...got hold of the bowl, pulled it down onto himself, got a facefull of water. NEVER did it again :)
Sorry I'm babbling on again - crap day at work

We not only love kale, we grow it. Maybull likes it too.
The problem with vegetables is that most people's only experience with them is canned or boiled to death with no flavoring. Try throwing a little caramalized onion into your kale. Or instead of boiling it, try lightly sauteing it in some olive oil and garlic.
Maybull also likes salad.
*giggling*...archie didn't
*giggling*...archie didn't like salad much,but he
liked carrots and fruits 'cept for bananas
