Acepromazine

Please google acepromazine in brachycephalic dogs. You will find multilple articles which address the issues with this drug and multiple breeds of dogs with smushy faces which should not receive this medication. Pugs, Boxers, French Bulldgos, etc. are on the list. Is Ace safe to use??? Basically a roll of the dice. Some brachycephalic dogs do not have the negative effects of the drug. Personally I know it killed our first bully and it will be given to our bullies over MY DEAD BODY only!!! On the front cover of their medical charts, in big red letters, is written they are never to receive Acepromazine.

Zapper goes to a vet who sees 10+ bullies a day..

and when he had surgery I asked the vet about Ace and his response was "hell no, not for a bulldog." I'm surprised more vets aren't aware of this.

Sorry for your loss Peg.

This is so distressing.

You must be so angry for this to have happened. We're here for you. This shouldn't have happened.

I'm so sorry

I would be busting down someones door for sure.  I can't even begin to imagine how you feel right now after finding this out.  This isn't very nice to say, but I hope the vet gets what they deserve.

I am so sorry for your loss (Hugs)

I know how devastating it is to lose your baby, I just lost my Chester a coupleof months ago and still devastated.  It pains me that we find out about how or what caused the death after and know that something could be done (like in your case).  I know nothing could help my baby, his disease took him away from me, but it ws not until I did my own research that i put two and two togehter.  He was always enigma.  I am so very sorry for your loss.  Hugs.

This is so sad

This must be very hard to deal with, just reopening a wound.  I'm sorry for your hurt.
