We will be taking a trip back home soon. And this will be our first vacation with our Fatboy in tow. The drive is normally 16-18 hours but with Fatboy we know it'll take longer since it's going to be the first time he'll be on a drive that long. I'm looking for recs on a harness that will keep him safe in the back seat; specifically for a mini cooper. Since it's a mini we will have to fold down the back seats to maximize space; Fatboy will have to share the space with our luggage (which I feel bad about). Also, for anything else we will need or find useful on the drive. I'm getting his emergency kit together (it was misplaced when we moved to the new house) and will already have his travel bowls ready for him.
We won't be stopping to sleep; we alwasy drive in shifts. So any advise will be greatly appreciated! :)
Fatboy aka Stinky :)
Items I can think of for a trip
a small cooler with Ice and Water (we actually even pour a little bit out, and freeze the bottles of water) - we also have to bring "HER" waterbowl..she doesnt like drinking out of other dishes -
Kibble, Treats, Benadryl, chew toys (different ones, maybe even a NEW Nylabone)
Does the cooper have any 'hard points' ? like you would attach a baby seat too? we actually attach her harness, to a short leash, to the hard point.
there is enough room for her to stand, move a little left and right, and lay down. :)
I know there is a bigger list than just that ! brain fade !
Last steps taken May 26, 2014 -- Been rolling along ever since . . . .
This harness works very well for us.

Another thing that we use when we travel...which is alot is a
plug in cigarette lighter fan. I am always worried about getting to warm.
Stop a lot
Stop a lot to let him out to do business and walk around. Expect a lot of attention. Bring a toy. Bring poo bags. Bring food and water and snacks for him and bowls. A drool towel or a roll of paper towels, even if you don't generally use one. A leash. He'll probably sleep a lot, too.
home bound?
Does this mean you will be in my neck of the woods? We would love to travel to lower valley for a play date!

good potty stop
We travel alot with Matilda. I think Cracker Barrel is a good spot for a break for everyone. Most have big parking lots with grass somewhere on them. Seems safe and clean. Not as much highway noice, distraction and No designated pet area, which in my opinion are always nasty! People clean up after your pups! just saying. I hate rest stops. Besides, good food for all at Cracker Barrel!
