Bailey became a part of our family Monday and I went to clean her folds and they are red and wet!!! She doesn't see the vet until next Wed. Could this be a yeast infection?!! Is there anything I can do to help her out until her appointment? It must be sensitive because she wont let me near it. I think it may be itchy to because she rubs her eyes :(
Trisha
It might be yeast.
It also might be because the wrinkles tend to get damp. Use a soft cloth to dry them out and then put some medicicated ointment in them. Do this a couple of times a day. Remember they are probably sensitive. I think you can wait until the vet visit, but you might want to call the vet on Monday.
Thank You
I figured as much, thanks for the advice.

To help her out,
You can use a tiny bit of Desitin diaper rash ointment in the folds to soothe and dry them out. Beware, she may rub her face on the floor or corner of furniture and it doesn't come out!

Nose wrinkle
Gold Bond powder. Same as what is used for athlete's foot (also a yeast infection.) Don't shake directly unto the fold. You don't want the powder blowing into eyes. Clean fold well with witch hazel and dry with soft cloth, cotton ball, or hair dryer (if she will let you. ) Then apply powder. Also works well on hot spots.

Lots of advice
All of these work. Some work better on some dogs. We had some that needed powder and some ointment. None will be bad. Just try until you find something that works. This might be long term.
Thanks
Thanks I will try them and see which works best. It looks pretty bad so Im assuming they haven't been cleaned for some time now, if ever.

I use coconut oil
and chlorhexodine... Fred's rope is not that bad, you can hide a small child in there, but it does not get that gross.. Ethel's is pretty gross and the fact that she plays in the dirt all the time does not help. I clean with chlorhexodine solution, leave on for about 10 min, then wipe clean, then I put a little coconut oil in there - helps with the yeast... good luck!!! I have also used triple paste (diaper rash cream) for when it's really red - works great!
