I have some friends who suddenly announced that they have just adopted an new born baby. They have set up a website so their friends can cook them meals and bring them over. Is this a common trend? I can understand if they actually had the baby themselves and would ask for help for a few days as they recovered, but I've never heard of this. The calendar to sign up to cook meals for them goes through the end of February. It this weird or am I out of the loop.
Thanks.
I never heard of that but hey...
if you can get your meals cooked and delivered for 2 months...
well honestly . . .
I guess they are 'new parents' either way, adoption or birth - Would you throw a baby shower for someone who adopts a new born? (I'm a guy, and I dont know this answer) Maybe they are trying to do away with the 'stigma' of adoption? *shrug*
I've never heard of the practice either way though.

Good point.
And the answer is yes, you do throw a shower for the adopting parents :)

A baby shower is one thing, but free home-cooked meals for
for two months is another. I just thought it was odd. Any if you are new parents of any kind, you don't arrange for the shower yourself. Someone else, a close friend or family member, throws a shower for you.
Just my thoughts
I would never set up that kind of arrangement for myself. But when my 2 yr old was born, she was a c-section and ended up being in the hospital for almost 4 wks. I spent as much time with her as I could while still taking care of my then 3 yr old. Our church family got together and helped provide meals for a couple of weeks. I was very grateful to not have to worry about cooking for my husband and oldest daughter. Two months is a long time to need the extra help but if they are first time parents, maybe they think they need the help? Personally I'd want to get into a routine as quickly as I could because it makes life so much less stressful. I'd help your friends out for a couple of weeks but then they'd be on their own.
