Hi everyone, I am wondering if I am feeding my 2 month old puppy enough food. The breeder told us to feed him twice daily and that a cup would do, even if he wants more. I feed him twice a day on a set schedule but feel bad that maybe it's not enough food. Deuce, seems to be starving when I feed him, it's like he attacks his food eagerly. Any suggestions?
When Fatboy was that age he ate three times a day.
One cup at each sitting. So is your bully only eating 2 cups per day? You might want to add in an additional meal time. Eventually he'll decide when you can break it down to twice a day.

Keep it at that
or you will be doing a diet thing. then the guilt will really get to you. not fun telling our babies what is best for them. they all are starving all the time. even after they eat.

Two cups a day sounds like not enough to me. We have always fed twice a day and I think when they were puppies they were getting about 2 cups at each feeding. Ours are 3.5 and 2.5 and each get a heaping cup at each feeding and they are full grown. So I would say up it to a cup and a half to two cups and see how he does. I know many recommend feeding three times a day so you could also try that so he doesn't have to go so long in between feedings.
By the way, we have a Deuce too!! Awesome name!

When Fatboy was little we spaced his feedings to 3 times/day. And he was happy with that as he was a very healthy eater when he was a growing pup. Then one day we took him to the see the vet for a non related issue. The vet was talking to us about whatever it was we took him in for (I can't remember) then recommended that we need to watch his weight because he's smaller than other bullies. He wasn't even 50 lbs so I don't even know why he mentioned anything about weight. He definitely wasn't overweight. And he's was a puppy for crying out loud! lol He needed to eat.
That very day Fatboy himself stopped eating 3 times a day. He knocked it down to 2....maybe only 1 on some days. My husband and I joke that the vet gave him an eating complex =P

1 cup is NOT enough
Poor Duece is starving. He should be eating 3 x a day and about 1 cup per feeding. At 6 months then you go to 2x per day and can likely start reducing the amount of food. You have to gage their intake by their appearence. If they get too fat then reduce the amount of food. Your puppy is definitely very hungry.
Maybe I read wrong and its 2 cups
But it's still not enough for a growing puppy, they need nutrition food to develop correctly.
Sounds like Jack
Jack would inhale his food bowl if it would fit in his mouth. Our feedings went like this:
from 7 wks- 10 wks = 2 cups of food split up into 4 meals
10 wks - 17 wks (present age) = 2 1/2 cups split into 3 meals
At 6 months we'll go to 2 meals a day and I'll evaluate the amount on how is weight is. He also gets a few extra bits of kibble and dog biscuits as rewards throughout the day. This has been working for us and Jack has gained steadily. I used what others have done and the instructions on the bag as a guideline. But mostly just went by how much Jack was gaining and how he looked.
