Hello Everyone!
Sumo has been licking his left front paw. It looks red and irritated. I have tried putting on preparation H cream to help sooth it as well as soaking it in epsom salt. He would usually let me rub some cream on it, but today he was fighting a bit and when I touched it he yelped. I've never heard him yelp before so I'm quite concerned. It must be causing him a great deal of pain. Any ideas of what it is? And treatment? I've been researching...maybe interdigital cyst? His vet is on vacation which means Sumo won't be seen till next week. Is this something urgent requiring immediate medical attention? If so please let me know.
I've attached some pictures of his paw.
Measures we've taken thus far: soaking in epsom salt, preparation H cream and cone.
The poor guy.....
Thank you in advance! Any word of advice is appreciated.
Interdigital cyst...
we put preparation H on them three times a day. Takes a couple of days to go away. Some people do bleach/water or epsom salt soaks, but my guys won't stand still for that. Whichever you choose, don't do both (either prep H or soaks.)
I agree.
They are nasty looking but the treatments, which ever you choose (Including my vet's favorite, soaking in a solution of Dreft detergent and water) will work in a few days. No licking, though.
ay..sumo my sweet i hope it
ay..sumo my sweet i hope it gets better soon,*smoochies the scrunchy face*
Why does everyone try to do both?
one treatment only. Either Prep or Epson. Prep H shrinks it, while epson salts draw it out. Using both will not help at all.
