Hello, my friends
Submitted by Céline and Ange... on March 5, 2012 - 10:59amI want to start by thanking you all for your wonderful wishes and love on the loss of our girl. I read them all and they were a huge comfort to me. Not only did these messages from "my BDW family" make make realize that some people actually do understand, but it also showed me how many folks that Stella had made smile over the years. Thanks also to those of you who checked in privately - it did my heart good. I plan to consolidate all the kind messages and make a little album.
I miss her more than words can say. But, in my heart, I knew it was time. She was telling me so and it was the least I owed her after so many years of love and courage in the face of so much adversity. She went peacefully, in my arms with her favorite vet who called her "his big potato".
As strange as this may sound, she actually made me smile during that last appointment. I had brought her two blankies to lie on and spread them out on the floor. Now, Stella was never one to lie on the floor. Dogs do that! So, even in her weak state, she started digging around, building a nest with her blankies. When she had it just right, then she flopped down. Her brave spirit was not going to tolerate going to the Bridge unless her nest was just right. My silly, wonderful girl!
The day she passed, we bought a bottle of pink champagne to toast and honour her long life and all the joy and comfort she brought us.
Today, I have to go and pick up her ashes :( Not looking forward to that.
We will love you forever and ever, my beautiful, beautiful girl...

Thanks so much. I'm not quite ready for another special girl in my life, but I think it will be "relatively soon". I think going to meet Bali's breeder in May sounds just about right. But only if you and Bali are there and I can give that sweet girl a smooch!

And I was sorry to hear it. But I have a real feeling that a dynamic, warm-hearted guy like you will find another opportunity. One that will make you secure financially and content professionally. I'm a strong believer in the philosophy that "nice guys finish first". Someone is going to snatch you up...

I cannot begin to imagine your heartache. But I am so thankful that the final moments were peaceful and in your loving arms. Tears come just thinking about it...again I cannot imagine. Thank you for sharing a brief glimps of that love with us. (oh my...here are the tears and I am at work at the moment!)

I didn't get to know Stella as long as some others here. But she sounds like she was just the most wonderful girl who was dearly loved. Every dog deserves a life like hers. I'm sorry for your loss.

I had a tough time picking up both Kilmore and Winnie's ashes, so I feel your pain. We did a toast like you did, but after we brought their ashes home. It was our thanks for being such wonderful dogs and bringing such joy into our lives. Just remember that Stella is still with you and is happy for the loving home you gave her. We are still thinking of you.
