First and foremost, thank you for all your extremely kind thoughts and prayers and well wishes during my mom's hospitalization and recovery. You all have been such an inspiration, as you always are, in times of distress. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Mother is presently in a rehab facility, receiving the care and attention necessary for her to recover. For those who don't know, she was riding shotgun in a golf cart, going to the grocery store. Her husband was driving. They attempted to cross a road and were struck by a car. Mom was ejected from the cart, struck her head on the roadway and suffered a brain hemorrhage and broken right femur. After a week of being in intensive care, the bleeding resolved and she was moved to an osteo (bone) floor and was scheduled for surgery. There were some set backs (2 units of blood and one more CAT scan just to make sure) and surgery postponed twice. As a result, she now has a portion of an artificial femur bone and a new knee joint in her right leg. Two and a half weeks later, I'm now home, waiting till the next time I'm needed. She will be in rehab for 2-3 weeks, depending on her progress. But for now, she's fine, as far as that goes. Me? I think I've become a mental patient. So, file this under "To Be Continued" and I'm going to take a nap. Oh, and I didn't forget.............Hey, Warden, where's my rum?? Thanks again, Doggers! Out!
On the road to recovery
Both you and your mom, I hope.
My dad bought a golf cart last year and he zips around town in it - even though it's illegal to be on the road. I'm going to tell him your mom's story. Hopefully, he'll see it as a cautionary tale.
welcome back!
I'm glad to hear that you're mom's surgeries went well and she's in a rehab facility. What a miracle that both she and her husband survived! Winston and I will continue to think good things for her quick recovery and your mental health as well!! :)
