Hi, I'm new here, though I've been reading your tips and ideas for a few months. There's a wealth of info and some beautiful bullies here!
Anyway, I'm Jen mom to five people kids and two bully kids,Henry is 7 months and Pipkin is 4 months. They are awesome and we arena bing a crazy good time. The boys are our first English bulldogs and, honestly, I'm trying to "do it right". Lol
We have done basic puppy classes and do training times during the day. Try to take a long walk every morning, when the heat allows. And do lots of play time with toys outside. The dogs are always with us. It has worked out fine all summer to let our day revolve around doggy care and entertainment but the kids are homeschooled and we need to start getting into a fall routine. What I don't quite know is how much time they "should" be able to chill out in their play pen or crates. I don't want to make them miserable but I know they're going to have to entertain themselves a little bit during the day now.
Id love to hear about what your dogs day looks like. I'm trying to figure out a reasonable routine. Sorry if this sounds wacky, lol

Maybull has her day
Maybull is now 12 1/2 years old. She gets up around 9:00 am, goes out, has a snack and then takes a nap until about 4:30 pm, with a short break for a snack and a piddle somewhere in between.
But, you've got puppies. When Maybull was a puppy, she'd get up about 9:00 am, would go out for a piddle, have a snack and then play, play for about a half an hour. If there weather was good, we'd take her out for a walk sometime during the day, some days, up to two miles. If it were hot, the walk would be shorter and sometimes be a midnight.
You might want to incorporate your dog's walks into the day, as a break for the kids and the dogs. You probably don't need to crate them if you are with them. Let them play by themselves or just nap. Make sure they get some attention, but it doesn't have to be constantant attention.
Farley is almost 4 his day will consist of this..
Get up about 6:30, eat breakfast and get his pain medications, go out and go potty and play with his older sister for a bit, come inside and sleep and/or play (harrass more like it) with his brother the cat a bit until about 1pm, go out and go potty again, come in and sleep until dad gets home from work, go outside with dad and play and potty, come in and eat dinner and get pain meds, sleep until 9 when it's time for the last potty of the day then go to bed.
Yes. his life is borning.
I loved reading these
I loved reading these responses, thank you guys! It helps to know what others do. We have the x pen and crate set up too, so I can definitely do that a little bit more during the day. I must admit I look forward to the longer lazier days when they are a little calmer! Right now it's just go,go,go all the time.
Thanks again,I really appreciate your replies!

My dogs days consist of ..... SLEEP .... and lots of it
I can only wish!
I think you could easily put your puppies on your kids home schooling schedule. If they study for 2 or 3 hours then take a break that is perfect. My puppies prior to 6 months would get a noon time break and feeding. I used an ex-pen setup with a crate so they have more room then a crate but still secured.
My dogs (all adults) get up around 6 am, they potty, eat, then maybe potty again, then they sleep. I love the weekend mornings because they are very snuggly into the late morning, especially Ester. It's kind of like a pajama party.
Since I work and they just have me Ester and Kohl go to their kennels in the garage during the summer until it's too cold. They get chew toys and bones and are always sleeping when I get home. It usually about 9 - 10 hours, then outside to potty and then dinner. MacKenzie gets free roam of the house and sometimes he has to be woken up when I get home, he's sawing logs on the couch.
I rarely leave them in the evening since I'm gone for so long during the day.
Rugby is 10 Months...
His day has definitely evolved as he is getting older and doesn't need to go out every few hours. I take him for about an hour walk in the morning (we live right next to a park where dogs can be off leash before 9am, he has lots of friends to play with), bring him home, he eats and passes out for the remainder of the morning. My boyfriend is currently working from home so he has company throughout the day, but for the most part he sleeps until the early afternoon. Mike takes him for about three walks to do his business (one is much longer and usually in the evening). We usually have playtime from early evening until around 11... Mike then takes him for his last walk of the day around 11pm-12pm. He does have a crate, and we do have an xpen attached so he has access to water and room to play, but for the most part he roams the apartment.
Another thing is that we have an awesome woman that takes him once/twice a week for the entire day. She has 3 labs and they play ALL day (7:30am - 6pm). Rugby is so exhausted by the time he gets home and it is great exercise for him. Can you tell he is spoiled rotten??
I think pending the bully, its age, temperament, it can vary!
Diesel & Molly's day....
Right now I am home all day with the dogs so we get up on a normal day around 7:30 they go out in the backyard for their morning potty while I make a cup of coffee and fix their breakfast ... after they eat they normal just follow me around the house, this summer has been really warm so walks have been put off til it starts to cool down ... but they nap play potty nap play potty ... yeah that sounds about right LOL

Otis' Routine
Otis, our five month old puppy, easily established a routine. It works wonderfully during the week...it's not so wonderful when he wakes up at 6am on the weekends! :-) Since we're at work during the day, he spends a lot of time in his crate, but fortunately he loves it! Also, it helps that one of us is able to come home during lunch.
6am- Otis wakes up, eats breakfast, uses the bathroom, and plays
9am- Crate
12pm- Lunch/walk/play
1pm - Crate
4:30- Playtime/walk/dinner/training/etc until he goes to bed around 10pm
This routine works well for us. Otis is well-behaved and overall he is very balanced. And he LOVES to sleep!! :-) When we are home, we spend a lot of time with him and we take him everywhere that we go. We don't feel guilty about a few hours in the crate, because this is one spoiled rotten pup!
