Hello all, new to the forum with a simple question. What is the best brand and style harness that would help easily train our bullies on there leashes? any suggestions for me and my wife. Now keep in mind we have two english bulldogs that are 5 months old and they are brother and sister.
We love...
the sense-ation harness (http://www.softouchconcepts.com/index.php/product-53/sense-ation-harness). it does not give ruby "power" in her shoulders like a regular harness. because of the barrel shape of the bully chest it does not fit perfectly though. so we use a regular neck collar in addition so ruby doesn't "slip" the harness. we tried so many different collars & harnesses...this was an answer to our bossy bully prayers.
Our trainer suggested the gentle leader easy walk...The
leash attaches in the front and prevents them from pulling. Works good gor us.
We use
Just a regular harness for us. We have two dogs also and use a splitter, or doubler, and I add a short soft leash handle as a second grab point. I also loop the leash around my wrist so they can not get away, no matter what..... One tip is to train each one to walk on a leash and they will know better how to work as a team. I'm not the best dog trainer, but mine do walk in a team now. [now] Age has something to do with it. Also a short walk with each dog around the block, one dog, then the other, then in a team, seems to help as they will have P- points to go to and it teaches the routine. Good luck, stay aware and have fun...it looks so neat and the boys just love to be in harness and out walking. Here is a pic, not our best of the boys coming home after a short walk...we have a fenced yard so a walk is a treat for Buddy and Brother. If ya look you can see the leash is around my wrist, a trick I learned at Pinkertons as ya got to keep the dog with you, and we don't want to chase our Bullies....lol It looks like the second short soft leash handle is not clipped to the leash in this pic, but it would be clipped to the leach so I can grab it with my other hand just in case...they sell them at dog stores, just a safety thing for me, I think the short handle came with the doubler.
