I have been dealing with these pesky bugs for about 2 weeks now..I wash him and they fall out..then I treated him with Advantix but they are still on him! I Vac twice a day and even put down a flea powder but after i was done i could see them in my bagless vaccum and they looked like they were having the time of their life! I dont know what to do!!! Can anyone help and point me in the right direction! I feel so bad because its my fault..i took him to the lake near my house and hadnt treated him with Advantix for majority of the summer!!! Horrible father I am!!!

Fleas are the WORST!! You not only have to treat the dog

You need to treat the house and yard as well.  THere is a whole flea cycle that you are going to need to break so you need something with an IGR in it. Have a professional come and spray for fleas, do the yard and house at the same time you treat the dog.  Good luck!

It's awful to get rid of them

We had a flea infestation last fall. What a job it is to get rid of them. I washed or vaccumed everyday anything the dogs touched, including bug bombing my car. I had to use a single dose of a monthly flea/tick preventive(can't remember the brand) which, I never put on my dogs. After about 2 weeks, we were flea free.

I wish you luck

Paradox

If they are making the dog crazy, I'd use a cap star, from the vet, but it's a 24 hour thing.  I use Skin so soft oil in their bath water.  And if they had a flea infestation on them I'd spray the SOS oil right on the dog.  Carpets, I use, Diatomeasous earth on my cat, and if I had them in the carpet I'd use the DE there too, and in the grass. [use dust mask inside] I've sprayed SOS oil in the yard from a sprayer diluted with hot water, I have a small yard, but maybe you could fence them in a little if you have a big yard till it get cold. I also get strange pleasure from using a small jar with a little alcohol init to kill any fleas I catch, even picking them off the dog, as I believe the eggs are still in a dead flea....and die in the alcohol...call me crazy.  We've had an easy year here so far......hope this helps.....I haven't bombed in     many moons

I purchased the Diatomacous Earth!!

I just purchased the DE this morning and am planning on using it tomorrow morning (Monday) I am washing Cooper first thing in the a.m. and taking him to my parents house! Any tips on what I should do when I put down the DE in the carpets..rub it in, some people said use a broom to get it in..I just want to be sure im doing the best option possible! And how long after can I let Cooper back in the house..I know it says its ok for you and your dog etc etc..but on the bag it says do not inhale so how is that ok to put on your dog?

I forgot to say Food grade DE.  Hope I didn't cause you to get the wrong kind.  DO NOT USE unless it is food grade......I take pain meds and sometime I may leave something out in a post sometimes as I take pain meds.....sorry.  The good people here are on top of everything so thanks to Fatbay....

I looked online for the DE and found some at Ace Hardware..but it was the pool grade and thought to myself this cant be safe so looked online and found the food grade at Home Depot! But Thank You again for the reference I wouldnt have known it was out there! I put it down yesterday and had found a couple fleas in his crate this morning, I know its not gonna work in just one day so i will continue to use and vaccum! Probably gonna need a new vaccum after this..gonna burn the motor out using it so much haha!

We use diatomacious earth (food grade) on the carpets. I'd put

in your vaccum bag/canister too.  Can I suggest you stomp around on your floors while sprinkling the powder? The vibrations will attract the fleas to come out.  You may need to take your bully out for an afternoon after you do this so they don't try to sniff/eat the powder (even though it's food grade).   This got rid of our ant problem within hours.
