Cupcake is a female, she's 1 year this month and weighs 51 pounds. Biscuit is male, 5 months, and weighs 37 pounds. They both eat twice a day, 1 1/4 cups of dry food at each meal for a total of 2 1/2 cups a day. Are these good weights/amounts of food for them?
The reason I ask is because Biscuit looks like a ball of biscuit dough right now, and last time I weighed Cupcake at 10 months old she was 46 pounds. Now she's 51 pounds just 6 weeks later. Worried that it might be because I changed their food from Royal Canin to TOTW, other than that, nothing else has changed. We still walk 4-5 times a week.
Should I be reducing Cupcake's food intake now that she's approaching 1 year? Please let me know what your feeding amounts/dogs ages and weights are like so I can see if we're normal here!

okay, here are my boys...
Sebastian is 16 months and weighs 41 pounds, but remember he has severe pulmonic stenosis
Oliver is 16 months and weighs 63 pounds, no health problems
Remy is 6 months and weighs 51, also has pulmonic stenosis, but not as severe as Sebastian.
My boys are currently transitioning from Earthborn Holistic Great Plains to Nature's Logic Beef and they all get 2 cups day divided between 2 feedings. Even Remy because Sebastian usually doesn't finish his whole meal and Remy will clean up after him, so Remy is probably getting about just less than 1 1/4 cup each feeding.
I hope this helps.

Im really glad you asked this
Im really glad you asked this question and I feel like you read my mind! I was just about to post something similar.
Molly and Cupcake seem to be the same age. Molly will be 1 in 3 weeks. Right now she weighs 41-42lbs and she was eating 3 cups of TOTW. I just started thinking that it was too much as I had to search for new foods because of the recall and they all suggest lower than that for her age and weight. I thought this was interesting since I've always heard that the amount on that bag is usually more than whats really necessary.
Anyway, I just lowered her down to 2 1/2 cups per day split into 2 feeding, but I'd love to hear what others say too.
And I love the pics! The both of them are so cute!!! I especially love the pics of them together!!
Food Reduction w/age
Simple answer is yes as they get older they don' need as much food. They become less active. As puppies they need food to grow and they are busy. On average puppies eat 1c 3 x per day until they are 6 months, they they go to 2 times per day and you have to adjust the amount according to their activity level and if they look fat or fit. If too fat then cut out 1/2 c and see how they do. By the time they are older 2 or 3 years they will probably be eating closer to 1c per feeding, again depending on activity level. Also size of dog. Bitches can be anywhere from 40 - 55 lbs. Dogs anywhere from 45 - 65 lbs. If you have a bulldog male that weighs more then 70lbs then they are either very over weight or a bigger dog. I think people tend to not excerise them enough, feed too much because they are bulldogs and people have this thing that they should weigh alot. It's kind of a bragging thing...like "How much does he weigh? Most bulldogs are just too big. They really are suppose to be a smaller medium sized dog, with bithces around 40-45 lbs and dogs 50-55 lbs. But you won,t find many dogs at that weight. Even my old guy MacKenzie is 56 lbs and he looks tiny next to Ester, who is 50 lbs.
