Rugby took his first trip up to Maine this past weekend and had an absolute blast playing with his two lab cousins and rolling in the grass.
Apparently this spring has been really bad for ticks so if you all are enjoying nature make sure you do a tick check at night! We bought a tick collar and I did find one on Rugs belly... fortunately it had just gotten on.
On a funny note, to say he was exhausted was an understatement... here is Rugby falling asleep in his water bowl:
Never had luck w/ Flea and Tick Collars -
There are different products and other anti-tick remedies that might work better. I had a cat that wore its flea and tick collars, and when fleas got brought into our apartment, they thrived on her, RIGHT UNDER the collar (between the Collar and her Coat!) I'll never trust one of those again!
:) :) Good Luck !
Is Maine pretty this time of year? I think we might take a short vacation up to the coast of maine, next week - just cause we have never been there.

Flea & tick collars arent good.
You should read up on them. I can't remember specifically what was bad with them but they are really only good for cutting up and using inside the vacuum bag/canister to kill critters when vacuuming.
Fatboy aka Stinky :)
good thing he didnt fall asleep on the water side!
i agree about flea collars.. i didnt even realize that they still made those! its suppose to be bad and irritate their necks, etc.. full of bad chemicals, much harsher then the drops, and pills. I use advantage drops.. we dont have ticks in our area.. but i think there is advantix drops for tick areas too. never had a flea.. i just use it as extra protection in the summer from the mosquitoes and possible fleas from other dogs when we go to the parks, etc. good luck and dont use the collar anymore!
sincerely, christine
Thanks for the tick collar info!
We actually did advantix topical liquid for the fleas but in addition got the tick collar. I will read up and perhaps just do a nightly check instead!
Fleas and tick collars has never work for me
I'm on Texas where they are bad. Loulou can't wear one that's vet trip. I give her fish oil and vinger in her water they say that helps since she is allergic to almost everything and almost die as a puppy. Her other mommy told me this when I got her "Do not put one on her". I give her Comftrus and that does help . It has been the only one that she not back at vets office. Becareful with what you use my girl just can't do a lot of things out there. The picture of him is just to cute.
