"Does this dish make my butt look big?"

Bulldogs are not greyhounds.
We can't really tell from the photo, but if we had a side view we could tell better. One rule of thumb; If you can feel each rib, the dog's too skinny, if you can't feel the rib cage, the dog's too fat and if you can feel the rib cage and not the ribs, the bulldog is the right weight. But, your vet can tell you.
Weight issues
It's people that don't kow bulldogs that comment on how fat they think they are. We were at our vets in the waiting room and another lady made the same kind of comment about Emma's weight. However our vet overheard her and informed her that bulldogs don't fall into the same category as other dogs with what looks over weight. She went on to say that the "normal" look of a dog is an hour glass figure however bulldogs will never have that as they are not made that way. She said Emma had the ideal weight. But of course, ask your vet, just don't take this woman's comments personally.
It really bugs me when people say my boys are fat
Our vet told us--stand over them and their body should look like a pear--their shoulders are supposed to be wide--its the way they are built.

I would have just responded that "she isn't fat and btw, when is your baby due? You're just glowing!". That would shut most women up. Hazel doesn't look fat at all, she looks toned with a nice tapering waist. I think some people are just born to be bum holes.

What kind of dog did this women have?. I would of look at her breed and said well. Just give her that look! You know the look my breed is better than your, can't afford a real dog? Look. Lol when people tell me something about Loulou I have this look. If by chance they say something else then I just say and what breed is that? Then I tell them what don't you just shut up you know nothing about the bulldog breed. I can get just as rude as they are. If not more. Then I kiss my baby and start talking baby talk to her. Only thing is Loulou always wear dresses and matching Hats when she does to the vet. So I don't really get a lot of anything. Just the way we walk in people mouths open eyes get big. And then I ask her Loulou where would you like to sit Honey!. Talk about people thinks your Crazy!!!!!!!. Love it

People are just plain weird
When we first got Winston, the very next day I took him to the vets to find out all that was or could be wrong with him. When we first got there, a lady was at the front desk with a female Bully, she looked great to me, firm and roly-poly, just like a Bully should be. Now keep in mind that Winston was probably a good 30 pound under his ideal/good weight, you could place your fingers on his spine and still feel the vertebra above your fingers. This woman with the nice sized Bully took one look at Winston and exclaimed, " Oh, I wish Bella was such a nice weight like him". Color me dumbfounded. Here's a pict of Winston when I first got him. You be the judge of just how strange people can be.
So my advice to you, take everything that person said with a grain of salt if not the whole blasted salt shaker.
i got the opposite from my vet.....
when i brought henery in for a check up....i said he was getting to fat...my vet was like fat...and grabed him by his rolls and started laughing saying he was just the right size....of course henery was in 7th heaven.....

Thanks everyone! I've tried to be careful with her weight, she's on a weight management food (grain free) and gets less then the daily recommended serving. She gets maybe 6 treats a day, half of them in her kong, which I also only put 1tbls of pb, or a Tbls of reduced fat cream cheese. Plus she i only allow a 1/4 inch of 2% cheese with her claritin.
