Does anyone use the Buddy Belt?
Submitted by tiffscooper on April 1, 2012 - 2:25pmHi eveyone, I was just wondering if anyone uses the Buddy Belt ? We are having trouble going for walks with Clayton. He hates his harness and leash so much we have to literally chase him through the house to put it on him. Cooper on the other hand, could'nt get his on sooner :) I would have to order the Buddy Belt online because they dont have them in stores where I am. The Buddy Belt looks like a Bra :) It goes thru the front legs only and then closes by the back of the neck. They are pretty expensive the harnass for his size runs $120.00 (I think). I was just wondering if this might help him like going for walks a little better?

If you havent yet, and 'try on' a few styles - one or two Gizmo absolutely HATES and she wont move at all - what we have now, she tolerates - never real happy about putting it on, but she does for going places - around our development, I dont use a harness on her, I just walk her with her collar and leash, which she does well on... until she see's someone playing basketball ! then I dont care WHAT she's in, she'll be out of it !
Good Luck, you can try alot of styles and return them (Keep the tags etc) for the price of the one harness you have mentioned.

we have tried several options
I have not seen one called the buddy bra, but we found one line that Petsmart carries that is big enough around the collar, it sets Low on the shoulders, and then it snaps together at the center back, we happen to call it Kippah's bra. Kong carries a nice line as well, but Kippah is in between sizes, actually what she is in right now is a little too big, but her old one is too small. We found another Kong line that has the padded peanut shaped pad that rides on the chest, but it rides up to high and hits Kippah in the throat..but on a bigger boy it may fit better. I would certainly try on a bunch of them, we put her in the cart, after we put a blanket down in the bottom, it makes it much easier to try on multiple harnesses with her up higher.

I use them for all my dogs..I dont think they stop pulling with the harness on..but easier to move the boys

They are supposed to be very comfy for the dogs.

I had two of them for Kofi
They were very smart looking and I used them for about her first three years.
I agree that I didn't find that she pulled less with it though.
I used a trainer and learned to properly use the dreaded prong collar. Thus we had perfect walks.
I now use the Mendota (?) leash as she has calmed down considerably and is easy to manage with it.

That we got at Petco for about $20. We got these because they are easier to put on. Both Jax and Ozzy keep them on most of the day during the weekend, because they like to go in and out (they love the porch, but it can get hot out there). Neither of them seem to mind having them on--we use them like collars--all their info is attached to the harness.

I waited til she was full grown because they are so expensive. She has a pearl pink one, it is beautiful! It is the only thing she wears when we go out, she even wore it in the river when we went to the mountains, and it is still beautiful. It gets softer and softer, she has not had any issues with it rubbing her.
She is not a puller.

Just bought one a few weeks ago
and I love it!!! It doesn't stop pulling but it does stay on the best of many many harnesses we have tried! I found so many of the harnesses loosened as we walked. This does not. I held off buying it for a long time because of the price.Wish I had bought it sooner ;) Love our BB!!
