Did the New York Times get your state food wrong, too?

Don't feed your dogs this grape salad, which the NYT said is the iconic Thanksgiving Day side dish. But, it turns out, no one in MN had ever heard of it. Check your state. Did they get it right? Here's my take on what happened in Minnesota with a link to the article that defamed a lot of states.

Well, they got half of it correct for Texas!!

Tamales are very popular here for Thanksgiving, but not turkey tamales, or at least I have never heard of those! Pork and beef tamales, yummy! They catch the wild hogs here and use them for the pork...it is very, very good.

Well, for Arizona...

chorizo is just a fancy name for sausage which most people put in their dressing.  I don't ever cook (or eat for that matter) chiles or peppers after my one and only experience with a jalapeƱo.   Interesting article tho!  The grape salad sounds delicious.

Grape Salad

It might be good but NO ONE up here has ever even heard of it. The response to the recipe was more about how folks in the coasts have no clue about those of us in the middle and then dismiss our objections to their ignorance. (When I moved to MN from Oregon, one of my friends looked at me, shook her head and said, "I couldn't live there. I couldn't live in a place where they didn't have any trees....") No trees, except for the entire northwoods and the urban forests. Ha!
