I'm not a breeder, nor do I show, so I'm not an expert by any stretch. But I can answer part of your question. The rope, or nose rope, is the big fold of skin that runs OVER the nose below the eyes. Winston's is not as pronounced as some can be; if you look for Cathy and Audrey in the forum chat history - you can see a pic of Audrey who has a very distinct rope. If you visit the BCA website and read the breed standard there isn't a real definition of the rope, but that's the layman's definition. Some of the people who are involved in showing/breeding will be able to more clearly define it.
As for the braid, I'm as stumped as you.
And your other question about the pups and mom not wanting to nurse them any longer I can't offer any insight. I do hope that you can find a solution to keep the pups full and healthy and keep momma happy! :)

I show and I have never in the past 15 t\years heard of anything called a braid. The nose rope is the wrinkle that goes over the nose. It can be full or split.

If the split rope is what was meant by 'braid'? I've never heard the term, just surmising.
