Chester is back at the surgeon's office...

he was breathing pretty loudly this morning and urping up any water that he drank, so I took him in and the doc just called and said he got a lot worse after I left, so they gave him a sedative and another steroid shot. He said the surgery site looks good but he has some edema and thick saliva that are making his breathing labored. They are keeping him overnight to be safe. That's probably a good thing, because we have to take Newman in tomorrow for his surgery and I didnt want to leave Chester alone. Hopefully, he will be a lot better by tomorrow, poor guy, he's really been through it.

I agree, probably best he's in their care. You wouldn't have gotten ANY sleep tonight if you were panicking about him. I suppose the swelling just needs to go down a bit.

Sedative

You might want to ask your vet about a mild sedative that you can give him at home to keep him quiet and calm for a few days. With palette surgery he needs to be quiet for a couple of weeks so he heals nicely. Heavy panting is not good.
