Since Bulldogs are typically quiet, I just wonder what your personal experience is?
Kippah is 18 weeks old and about 3 weeks ago she found her voice. She barks and growls if she is trying to play and her buddy Gabe does not want to play, or if she is jumping from one place to another and unsure if she can make it. I have corrected her when she barks at Gabe, I tell her Leave It and hold my hand between her and Gabes face (of which is her favorite chew toy) She also gets ticked when he goes under a blanket and wont play with her, that really sets her off.
I typically dont correct her when she barks because she is unsure of jumping between the recliner and the sofa, she is afraid and I don't see a reason to correct her for that.
What are your personal experiences? Do you agree with correcting her? And please tell me this is just a puppy thing and it will pass!

Great Subject, as Gizmo is barking to beat a drum ! :)
Gizmo wants OUT, she wants OUT *NOW* to play with her Rocks on the back patio, so she is going to let you know NOW, that she wants out NOW, to play with her rocks NOW, and she will KEEP telling you NOW :P
LOL when Gizmo first joined us, we were like, wow, she stands at the back door, I hope one day she will bark to let us know she wants out, because we might not realize she is standing at the door. Oh how we miss those days sometimes :) LOL
They will find their voice, and they will realize if I do this, a reaction will be that :) It sounds like Kippah is training you well :) hee hee

I've heard Hazel bark less
I've heard Hazel bark less than a dozen times in 10 months...I haven't been able to replicate the sound that set her off. I think it may be that she is just too laid back to bark or worry too much about what's going on! A guard dog she ain't!!!
Jax
barked a lot once he found his voice (Ozzy rarely barks) But now that he is older (14 months) he is not as vocal. He still barks more than Ozzy but not like it was. He will still bark when he is alone in his room playing or when there is a reason outside, but it is better. I think some are just more vocal than others. But Jax has quieted down as he has gotten older

That brings back memories of puppy days
I do remember that Kofi went through a barking period, especially when I had to crate her for some reason (she loved her crate), and if people were there.
I remember that I ignored her since that was the recommendation I received. They bark for attention. The barking phase passed, and now she is completely perfect!
How we love our bullies!!!
