Hi all,
Am I correct in that bulldogs should not eat pork ? I've lived by this rule since we got Emma 6 years ago but I can't remember why or where I originally heard this. Thought I would check with fellow humans that are owned by bulldogs. lol

Well, Kofi does get
pork ribs on occasion. She loves them.
I did do research on a raw feeding site before I gave them, but sorry, I can't remember why I decided that it was okay.
It may be a controversial decision, but when Kofi gets ribs, its always pork.
Audrey eats pork all the time
Pork roasts and pork ribs. We usually rotate between beef and pork, with some lamb in between, so she eats it a LOT.
We freeze it for 2 weeks first. There was one time when we forgot to take food out to thaw for her, and Eric went to the grocery store and bought a pack of pork ribs and she ate that fresh.
The overwhelming consensus with raw feeders is that pork is OK and no need to freeze, as long as it was handled at a human grade USDA inspected facility, but I still freeze it anyways.

First bulldog Rocky, was prescribed a diet of only ground pork
and cooked potatoes. He had allergy issues and after a consult with veterinary dermatologist we where told by her to feed him ground pork and boiled potatoes. Nothing else. That is what he ate for the last three years of his life and did very well with it.

Thanks for letting me know
Next visit to vets I will ask. It would allow me more options and would start slowly to introduce her to pork. still can't remember why I thought this.
Ozzy
It took a while to figure it out but every once in a while Ozzy would be sick for a day--he would be curled up in his sick chair and not want to eat--then 12-24 hours later--he's fine. We finally figured it out--any time we gave him pork this would happen.

The Talmud says
The Talmud (one of the Jewish holy books) says that dogs are not required to keep kosher. So, pork should be OK.
lol.
kibby is allergic to pork...
we finally got her allergy food tested.. she still gets a little from time to time ( like a little piece of hot dog or whatever)... but I try to avoid it nowadays..
