On the facebook page, the admin said they received news about 4 hours ago that Bubba is deceased. They stated that this is a police matter under investigation and that is all they know at this time.
Such SAD news to hear. I was really hoping this would turn out well. One can only speculate, but I am curious to find out if he was ever really "stolen" from the boarding facility to begin with - if he didn't pass away due to something they did and try to cover it up.
Sad ! Sad! :(
I can't believe it! My heart goes to his family. :(
Boarding
While I'm sure there are folks that know more than I and are more able to care for a Bulldog, I still couldn't leave my boys with anyone.
It would do me no good as I couldn't enjoy any time I was away from them.
I had given this thought in the past and decided it just wasn't for me.

Mean people still suck
Boarding . . . had a 2 week vacation plan, and *POP* comes pup !
We had been planning a 2 week vacaton to Tennesee for nearly 2 years - to the CMA Fest. It was going to be hot, and we were going to be doing alot of walking followed by night concerts in a football arena. So when Gizmo POPPED into our lives 6 months prior to departure, we had to look at some options, as taking Gizmo, would of been next to impossible.
Our Vet, who had recently rebuilt his office and include new Boarding facilities, was our choice. It was rough, handing her over to the staff, but we had been there so many times of check ups etc. we felt very comfortable. We even drive 45 minutes out of our way to take her there. 2 weeks was very long, we actually came back a few days early (were we road weiry or missing Gizmo, or a little of each?)
This subject comes up, as this afternoon Gizmo is going 'to the Spa' for 2 nights, as Dottie and I are going up to NYC for a Day trip (6am until 10pm which would be way too long for a puppy to 'hold it') we actually feel better with her overnight, than 'trusting'a neighbor would do 'things right' and if there is an emergency - the vets are RIGHT THERE.
Now a boutique? in some Strip Mall? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

dont feel to secure about the vets.......
my good friend is a vet and put a boarding faciltiy in and it was for the money...and thats why most vets have grooming and boarding.....and dont think the vet tech or doctors check up on your pets they do not......i would start asking alot of questions...first how old is the average kennel worker???? you may be surprised to find its 18 or 17 years old....with no animal experience.....what animal experience does the kennel manager have????
dont be fooled becasue its at the vet...the american boarding kennel association does not approve many vet clincs for boarding....and their a good reason for it.....so dont get lured in by well its at the vet hospital....start asking alot of questions....
and what time do they open in the am...and when does the last person at nite go home...is their anyone over nite...who checks the dogs???? what kind of fire system do they have......what is their diaster plan...who will be responsible in getting your dog out...and where will they be....who will call you...
i walked into a kennel at a vets and a dog had passed the nite before...no one knew becasue their were 2 people for 20 dogs...and they were getting dogs out to exercise...and getting ready to feed.....yes it was a old dog....but it was a good hour before anyone knew about it!!!!!
thats another question how many people assigned to how many dogs!!!!!! vets are cheap and they cut their cost when ever possible.....
also ask what is the procudure that if your dog is sick how does the attendent infrom the vet.......ask questions please......
we felt the same way
When we had just Ozzy we only went away if we could take him with us. Now with Jax, the breeder also runs a bed and biscuit so I am very comfortable leaving them with her. We were at the vet once and a women came in with a dog healing from having his leg removed. We asked her what happened and she said they were on vacation and the dog was being boarded and he ran out into the street and got hit by a car. My first though was why was the dog outside not on a leash when at the boarders--I would have been livid.

That is horrible - :(
Maybe the family didnt check out the boarding facility close enough?? Who knows :( :(
Dottie and I took a full tour, to see their setup, so unless someone would rip out the tall chainlink fence with a truck, their really isnt a way for a dog to get loose at Dr. Beste's. Its like a security compound, enter 1 door, by the front desk, exit the same way. We are VERY comfortable there.
We treat the boarding of Gizmo second in importance right after her Vet Care

This is so sad! I'm guessing because of the reward, that the family wasn't hurting for money. So if I were them, I would have found a hotel that was pet friendly and just kept my boy with me. But I don't know the full circumstances and know that its sometimes impossible to keep pets with you. We are in a situation now where family or friends could take Jack or have a friend that could housesit for us.

how sad
I'm so sad for his family. My heart broke a little last night when I saw the news on facebook as well.
Shannon and Winston :)
My swimming bully buddy!
i hope thats not true.....
as a groomer i know things can happen...(i have never had a dog or cat pass away) but to try to lie about it....it paints a black brush on all groomers....things happen own up to it..and deal with it...its why we need to push groomers to have a license like hairdressers.....so sad on everyones part.....and shame on the groomers if they did try to hide it from the owners......
Still no word on the circumstances
surrounding his death. Apparently the owner has his tags, but no body. They aren't saying much because of the ongoing investigation. The owner has returned home to Atlanta. This still is just really nagging at my heart. :(
