I keep forgetting to ask -
Nationals is within a few hours of us - is it worth the drive down to it? we've NEVER been to a show -
Do you just sit in the stands and watch the bullies?
can you walk around?
are non show pets welcome?
I assume there will be lots of Bully products, anyone's input would be great :) We just dont want to load up Gizmo for a 3 hour one way trip to be a 'bust'

we haven't been...
but I do really REALLY want to go. I think it sounds like Bulldog Heaven!! I was reading through the event schedule, and they had a "parade of rescues" on one of the days...so at least on that day they allow "non competitors" to strut their stuff. :)
Shannon and Winston :)
My swimming bully buddy!
Rescue Parade
is a real tear jerker and definitely something to attend.
I went in 2009
Trace was entered and won third place in a big open class.
It's definitely a great show for bulldog lovers. I think there's about 450 bulldogs entered. There will be dogs there from all over the US, Canada, Mexico among other countries.
You can sit and watch the judging, walk around and look at the dogs and there will be several vendors as well. However, do not bring dogs that aren't entered in the show.
I would love to go this year but it's a 17 hour drive for me by myself and I just don't want to drive that far right now.
Here is a link to Trace at Nationals. He was originally awarded fourth place but a dog was later disqualified and we then won third place.

I met the handsome Trace and Jacinda
at this national in Kansas. As well as Maizy. Awesome year as my friend Jay Serion went BISS with his lovely Emmy.
Not been to a National Show...
But I have been to the annual show in the St. Louis area. It's a lot of fun to see the variety of bullies -- all colors, personalities and ages from pups to adults. It's also been a learning experience to see what the judges look for and compare my thoughts to theirs.
Unfortunately, you cannot bring a dog who is not in the show so Gizmo would not be able to attend.
Monica, Maude and Gus
Bummer that we couldnt bring Gizmo :(
I really dont want to leave her all along when I have a day off, cause she's there all day while we work alone :( (Yea I spoil her) maybe we'll check out a local show - and wait until the big one comes along again (someday?) :) LOL

I totally get it!
My husband works out of our home but he does travel frequently. When he's traveling, Maude and Gus are by themselves all day. When I get home from work on those days, I stay home and we hang out. It's not spoiling -- it's family!!
Do try and get to a smaller local show when you can -- you will really enjoy it. Hugs to Gizmo!!

are the nationals always at the same place?
I would LOVE to go to a show like that. How cool would that be! Do they ever do a national show near Mass?? We are thinking of showing our next bulldog (we just got Gracie in April so Im thinking a couple of years from now!) so one of the first things they tell you is to attend shows, meet breeders, see how its done. I have always been interested in showing but raising my children has kept me too busy. Now they are in middle school and high school and soon they will be off to college and I will have plenty of free time!
No
They go by divisions. Last year was in Kentucky, next year California and I believe it will be in Tennessee in 2013.
Yes, I'm going next week.......
I will have four of my kids entered......I went in 2008 when it was in Reading, PA and did well. My Lily got 2nd in the Am.Breed class. It you live close and can go it is a sight to see! Plus lots of cool bulldog stuff to buy.....I can't wait!
Not this year....Since it will be in California next year
I've attended 3 nationals (shown in 2).
If you have the time and it is that close then I would encourage everyone to go and watch at least 1 day. There are alot of "bullie" booths with bulldog stuff to buy. You will see the best bulldogs in the country at nationals and the top bulldog breeders and where else can you see 500+ bulldogs in one place.
Do not take your own dog.
