Are bullysticks rawhydes?
Submitted by Fatboy on December 28, 2011 - 9:35pmI got Fatboy a bullystick for Christmas (which he loves because it's stinky and he loves stinky things) and the more he chewed on it the more it looked like a chewed up rawhyde. I took it away from him and he's been looking for it ever since. Is it ok to give it back?

Winston LOVES bully sticks. He does what I call the "bulldog freak out" when playing with one. As much as they gross me out I can't not give him one occasionally because he loves them so much. :)

yeah also called 'pizzle'. We give'm to Bean and he really enjoys them. He's teething now and it really helps satisfy his chewing need. Weird to think of it as chewing on the bull part as a human but as a dog they eat more disguisting stuff. It is digestable and we let Bean tear off small pieces. Eventually he gnaws it down to where it becomes a choking hazzard. But for us it's been a life saver so far. just gotta watch it when it's small enough to get stuck. Have heard others stories where dog swallows the soft part while still attached to the unchewed part and thus becomes choking hazzard. just have to watch them while they chew it. He also has an elks antler but never took to it l ike the bully stick.
I gave one to Sissy once and
I gave one to Sissy once and she gnawed at for a bit and then swallowed half the stick! She ended up throwing it back up and then chewing it down to a more swallowable size but yeah, I haven't gotten her another one since. I sometimes think Sissy is part snake, she swallows EVERYTHING whole and sits around licking the air...yep, definitely gotta be a Bull-snake.

I heard of deer antlers and how dogs love them. I just wish I had two dogs that I am not terrified of them swallowing everything that goes near their mouths!!!
