We didn't let Oliver sleep in the bed until he was about a year old so the first couple times he was allowed on the bed he was so jacked up and we had to boot him from the bed because he would get so work up. He started getting more comfortable and eventually we were able to fall asleep with him there. He is really weird though because he usually crashes in the living room around 9-10 at night while we are watching TV. Then when we get up to go to bed, no matter how tired he might be, he gets up with us and follows up to the bedroom. Then while we get ready in the bathroom, he just sits at the foot of the bed until we are done and then gets into bed with us. Except he is not there to sleep. He will grab one of his stuffed animals to suckle, when hes tired of that he will go back out to the living room and bring back another toy (kong, different stuffed animal, antler). Sometimes he will come back with his 12" Jolly ball! He's always still playing by the time we fall asleep. Sometimes he's up for an hour playing with his various toys hes collected onto the bed. When he's finally tired/bored he goes back out to the living room to sleep on the couch. Does this every night and makes us crack up everytime. We love trying to guess which toy he is bringing in when he hear him grunting down the hallway.
We have 1 'soft' toy for bed -
its a set of rings, that are blue and soft plastic - Gizmo's other toys are not allowed in bed.
She would get fired up (lke Jack) when she first came into the 'big bed' but we would then take her out if she was acting up. Now she jumps up on the bed, walks around a few times 'looking' for a spot, then she will nest, nudge, nest, nudge and zonk out :)
Oh Lights and TV are OFF, or she will want to play :)

No Toys in the Bed.
I have a king size bed. At first it was only me and hubby and a small yorkie jumping up an down all night. You touch him he was gone. The Louou came crazy as ever. At night I gather all her toys up and put them in a box. Put the box in another room and shut the door. Louou then would come to bed with us and I would rub her ears and gave her a back rub intill she was out clod. Hubby likes to watch T.V late at night. Shiloh my yorkie jumping up and down all the time . Then came Bubba my son Amercian Bulldog. At my feet so there was no room for play. Now the king size bed only holds me and Loulou and Bubba. Shiloh passed. Hubby move out. But still I have them train you want to play crates for you. Bed hogs both of them still are and still I sleep on the edge of the bed.

ratliff gets in bed with me, and by getting in bed with me.. i mean i have to hoist him into bed. I have aking sized bed and he is super lazy, so he wont jump up there (even tho i know he can). he sits on the floor and whines until i lift him onto the bed. Then he licks my face, turns around and lays with him butt towards me while looking back at me and and growl/whining until i scratch his butt. he will fall asleep until i stop, then it starts all over again. it a wonder i get any sleep at all!

Haha, super cute. Oliver is
Haha, super cute. Oliver is pretty good at jumping on and off. This is very evident when a toy falls off the bed. We worry about his joints though so ordered some pet stairs online. They were super narrow and flimsy so he didnt use them so I built him a set of stairs. He still jumps off but will usually trot around to the stairs to climb back off. Plus he likes to rest his head on them.
stairs
i have seriously considered getting stairs for ratliff. i am terrified that he will snap a leg or something when he jumps down. there has been a few times that he has ate it on the way down. i dont know if he would actually use them thought because i think he gets some sort of enjoyment out of me getting out of bed to lift him into bed. lol

Stairs didn't work
Stairs didn't work for Tucker. Sounds like Ratliff and Tucker have the same thinking. Tucker can jump on and off any bed. We've both seen him do it lots. Our bed is standard height but he stands and looks at us and the best he will do is put his top half on it. He looks at my husband and I swear he says "Ok, you do the rest" and we have to lift that big bum up.
He refused to use the stairs becuase they were too narrow and I think he was afraid he'd fall. So if you want to come to Toronto you can come get Tucker's stairs!

rofl!! i wish ratliff would do even that! bulldogs are toots. I swear he is the only dog i have ever had who has had that much personality! I got home really late last night from celebrating a friend's bday.. and he was sitting on the couch (which faces my front door) when i opened the door with this look like "where in the hell have you been missy?" and then when my alarm went off for work this morning i swear he was staring at me from the bed like "oh i bet your feeling lovely this morning, arent ya?" lol!!
toronto is a tid bit far,, but if im ever in the area lol!
