Antlers

I have been looking at getting Maddie an antler for her new chew toy....are these safe for our bulldogs? She seems to get bored with the nylabones, so we are looking for an alternative. Thanks!

Gizmo LOVES her Antlers !

They can be Pricey, but she loves hers.  Do not get the ones split down the middle, as the soft interiors (Marrow?) make a mess, and then they can split.

http://antlerchews.com/  site has alot of good information, and they really seem reasonable priced.  Drop them an Email and tell them you have a Bulldog, and they will suggest a size :)

They also have different Species from Elk to Moose! (Moose Antler chews are slices! could you imagine a pup chewing on a whole one? LOL)

My guys have antlers and in three years...

they haven't made a dent in them.  Make sure you get thick ones and I always get the xtra large.  Even tho they are a little pricey, they last a LONG time.

Not all bulldogs like antlers

Emma doesn't like them, so don't be concerned if your bulldog does not like them. Try one first before you buy in bulk.

Fatboy loved his antler but we had to take it away from him

He bit off two sharp pieces and gave us a split second to grab them before he tried to eat them.  You definitely want to watch when they're chewing on these.

were they split type? or whole?

I've had Gizmo break off a piece from her 1st antler, that was split down the middle -  now her Whole Antlers I havent had much of a problem, but I keep an eye on it, and when she works a point to it, I cut it off :)

so she works another points :P

Beatrix LOVES her antlers.

Beatrix LOVES her antlers. And I love that they last her a while -- she's a serious power chewer.

We make sure to get her large elk antlers when we get them. Deer are softer, and practically melted in her mouth they wore down so fast. Moose is the hardest, but I worry that with the vigor with which she chews, she could chip a tooth on something that hard. Elk has been a nice middle ground.
