3rd 'head shakes' since 1st of year - -

The 1st time we felt this, Gizmo actually woke me up, it felt like her whole body was 'shivering' as she was laying next to me, Dottie mentioned that she had done it before (about a week or so previously)  Today she was sitting up (Cookie Jar) and you could tell FOR SURE this was a case of 'Head Shakes' or 'Head Tremors'  Her head was 'nodding' and it did quickly - whole episodes last about 10-15 seconds -

I remembered SUGAR to help with them... however, have you ever tried to give granulated sugar to a bulldog that just woke up? didnt work to good! so I grabbed the next best thing - Molassas -  she loved that, and it's 'liquid' form.

All of my reading indiciates  "low calicum, or low blood sugar' 'could' be a cause - But that numberous blood tests, usually turn up nothing, as its a 'bully thing' -    People are recommending  Frozen Yogurt, Kayro Syrup, or Honey -     Is Molassas ok as a substitute?

I know others have experienced this -  what are your personal recommendations ? suggestions ?    we are keeping a log, so when we see the vet next, we can have it with us.

Thanks :) :)

Oh No

This bulldog thing scared the hell out of me. Please e-mail and let me know what Carhy tell you. I am so freak out about this happening to Loulou. I don't know how much to give she weights about 65 lbs if this does happen. And why don't we give athens a lick or two  of honey before it's ever happens. I hope Gizmo stop these things she is special I just hate hearinh anything not well about her.

Poor Gizzie Girl, hope you can get down to the bottom of this....I wonder if this is genetic too....Better educate myself as well.

the little KFC honey packets would be good to have with you...especially when not at home.  They last for a long time and are great to have in your purse (or murse for you Rick) to pick up blood sugars quickly.

Still in researching mode, however what I have found . . .

What I have found, and also the info from Cathy, is it seems that there really isnt a known cause or cure for head shakes,  some puppies have them frequeuently some once or twice and then no more -

again, its PRELIMINARY research on my part - I'm still reading more :) :) :)

I'll keep ya all in the loop :)

awww, Gizmo!!! Don't scare your Daddy that wayyyy!!

Poor sweetie!  I'm not SURE if that's what Meaty has had before, but if it is,  it used to scare me so much!  I also

researched and heard different things, and I've noticed he rarely does it anymore.  The last time he did it, I

thought maybe it was his way of scratching his bottom ????  (he has a very tight tail pocket), so I cleaned the

entire area very well, externally, then internally.  Anyway, hope sweetie pie Gizmo is okay,...!!!

I have used Peanut Butter, Ice cream, syrup...

Anything with concentrated amounts of sugar. It always stops Sophie in a head shake immediately. She has only gottem them a few times in her life, every time a food change fixed the issue.
