Summer?

Poor lil' Bully!

Summer has not even begun to hit here in WA, the flowers are out in the plum and cherry trees though.  I did notice Kippah rubbing her eyes on her toy the other day--that could have been why, but she is in heat right now...so EVERYTHING makes her miserable.

We had a full weekend of sun and 68 degrees though! Thats a start

Our boy Oscar used to itch something awful in March and April...

here in the desert, that's our spring and the bermuda grass would be germinating and it was awful.  My three now don't really seem to mind, Newman occasionally gets itchy, but a benedryl takes care of it.  If your guy is really bad, the vet can give you an antihistamine that has a very small amount of prednisone in it, it worked wonders when Oscar was alive.  I think it was called ChlorPred.

I know

Buddy had a small place and I put the harness on him and it got all bloody.

I got that cleared up, and then one started  on his cheek, and he rubbed his nose.

I use Vet's Best on the places and it must help the itch.

He sure makes me feel bad, getting a boo-boo.

If you aren't already

try wiping him down when he comes in to get that pollen off of him.

Great TIP!

Why didnt I think of that, I do that for myself after being around alot of tree or grass pollen--I jump in the shower and it really cuts down on the problems

This is my first spring with

This is my first spring with Molly but I think she is definitely suffering from the pollen. She has developed a few spots of thinning hair patches (2 on her leg and one on her back) and she's also scratched one ear so much there are some scrapes and sore. Her eyes are extra watery too! I'm assuming all of this is from the pollen since I'm feeling it too.

i try

i try my best to wipe him down as much as a can, with a nice cool oatmeal rag, that usually calms it down a little. I keep a little bowl off to the side so every time he runs in a can wip him down. I feel so bad, as he's scratching i see him looking at me like " mommy its soooo itchyyyyyy". and his nails are as short as i can make him. and he still bleeds :(.my poor babe..

awwww little kippah!! poor little babes i wish we could keep them in cool little incubators for the whole summer! hahah

Definitely NOT here

I was dremeling nails this weekend and then did the good brushing and found money (yeah) in my show grooming bag and Benadryl. 2 Highly unlikely things to find...LOL!  I can honestly say I never have it in my drug supply.  Now I'm not even sure why I had it in my bag other then the last show (our specialty show) tends to have bees and I must have gotten some just incase.

So thankful I have none of those allergy issues at my house.

Now Cleo is another story and has gotten worse as she has gotten older and my sis is doing allergy testing on her now.  Will see what she is alergic too.

I agree with LIsa

wipe him down and clean his feet when he comes in. So far mine stays in most of the summmer in less to use the bathroon or if we are swimming, Hard to keep them in but Loulou alreadys takes Bendryl three times a day for her allergys. I always watch her in fear of over heating and what might take me to the vet. but I do keep my yard cut and where she allowed to go. Good luck with this problm but yes give him bendryl like Rick said  the generic one works good as the name brand. that what i use also.
