Sissy has had these yellow pads since we brought her home and I had hoped when we put her on a better food they'd go away. (she was eating Purina at her breeder's house and we put her on Taste of the Wild) All four pads have this yellowish color to them and I dont know how well you can see it in the picture but the pad itself looks like it's almost tearing. It doesn't seem to bother her at all but it looks bad to me. Anyone ever see anything like this? Thanks in advance!
yellow pad....
.....those pads are the ones that they don't step on and don't get worn. I've never done anything about it and haven't had any problems with them.
are they dry and splitting the
picture is not telling me much its a little blurry....
question
have you looked INSIDE the pad/toe area (on the underside)? It, to me, looks like she might have some irritation going on "inside" the foot (unrelated to the discolored pad). Whenever Winston starts to get an IDC in that area it often looks red/inflamed like her foot does. Have you noticed if she's chewing/licking that foot more than "normal?"
Although it's not related to the initial question you asked I do think you should check out her paws closely to make sure there isn't anything else going on. Don't mean to freak you out, but that looked too similar to Winston's when he's having issues that I had to at least give you a heads up! :)
Shannon and Winston :)
My swimming bully buddy!
Sorry the pic is a bit blurry
Sorry the pic is a bit blurry as I took it on my cell phone. (cant seem to find the charger to our camera lol) The pads themselves almost look like they're separating. The best way I can describe it is they look like they're tearing but there doesn't seem to be any kind of wound or injury to them and it doesn't seem to bother her. She does get cysts between her toes every so often but even when there's no cyst the pads look like this. They've been like this since we brought her home several months ago and they dont seem to be getting any worse, they just dont seem to be getting any better either. My last bulldog never developed anything like it either.
ok got you
you can put some vaseline on the pads not alot just a lite coating i think of it like dry skin.....i would also get some omega 3 in her system...i like cod liver or salmon oil just be carefule of any additives...i find cod liver safer has less additives....
what are you feeding.....
Ok will try getting some
Ok will try getting some vaseline on there, thanks for the advice:) Have been feeding her Taste of the Wild (the salmon one) since we brought her home late March. I know the feed store where we buy our food has both the cod liver oil and salmon oil so I can get her some of that as well.
James has the same problem
but it has not bothered him, so I am not worried...whats the consensus? shoudl i be worried?
