yeasty feet

Dread has beed licking his foot, between the toes and now it is very red and angry looking.  It also looks like there might be an infection.  It is sore and is bothering him a little bit.  Is there anything I can put on it to help clear it up?  Since it is the holiday weekend, I don't think our vet is open so I was hoping for a home remedy if anyone has a suggestion.  TIA!

Tuffy had a sore between his toes

And the vet gave us some medicated shampoo to use on his face and in between his toes on a daily basis. Apparently the folds between the toes can be a breeding ground for bacteria. If he keeps licking at his feet, I was told it's okay to put some bitter apple spray there to keep him away. Good  luck!

Sarge has that too

Our vet did a skin scraping and found Sarge has a yeast problem in his front pads and gave us a spray that I massage into the pads and that seems to help.   He was licking alot.

Our vet said it was some sort of irritation and

said we need to clean between his toes on a daily basis with medicated shampoo as a daily regiment. Apparently the folds between the toes need care just like their wrinkles!

It's called and IDC

Look on the home page or do a search on IDC   (inter didgetial cyst) sp?  I know some people soak the foot in empsom salts and water mixture using a cup. You will find the mixture on here in a search others use clorox and water.  they have forumulars for both on here.  Sorry I could be more help with exact measurements.

Forgot to add

We found it was diet related to grains and some protiens Rocky was allergic to.  They stopped once we got his diet under control

Another tip

Somewhere I think that we read that putting Preparation H in between the toes will help too - you can google this information to be sure.

Another tip

We googled it and it is in the Bulldog World archives - the use of Preparation H does help.
